If it's anything other than an asphalt track, I'd recommend not roller skiing on it, or at least not using poles. For the track here in town, the use of spikes is strongly discouraged (explicitly forbidden) on the rubberized surface, so poles would be verboten as well.
Much better on parking lots and other roads around a school (no traffic to worry about), especially with some ups and downs.
Agree re the all-weather/non-asphalt track - the pole tips stuck some & something like "verboten" crossed my mind. Did the last lap w/o which was more work than expected. "Slow" mode performance wheels proved a surprise & more so on that surface.
