YAY! Welcome to the board, Beth. I've been meaning to call you about maps...
Wait! Anna just told me SHE'S on the board. What's going on here?
Are you pretending to be her, or is she pretending to be you? Help!
No, I really am gonna be on the board. Lea left one year early, so I'm finishing her term.
Oh, that board. Actually, I meant attackpoint, Annabeth. Anyway, are you the chair of the 'mapping committee'? I would like to be a hard-working member, w/ your permission? I mean, I want to get out there and map until blood drips from my fingers and my eyeballs tie themselves into knots. Since we have certified, 'pro' map makers right here in town, I was wondering if we could enlist their services to tutor, mentor and supervise while the amateurs like me who want to work took it from there?
Hey! I thought I was mapping chair. Or has there been a palace revolution without my knowing it?
BTW, Beth has been on Attackpoint for a while now.
I know you are the 'mapping chair' Eric, but i thought i heard there was also a 'mapping committee' - it doesnt matter to me. just tell me how to start mapping!
I knew Beth was 'there' in the background but i didnt know she officially had her own log:)
Yes, there's a mapping committee, and I'm the chair of it. Currently, the board has not authorized any large mapping efforts, so the committee doesn't have much to do. Thus, I'm also the only member.
We used to do volunteer mapping. That died from lack of interest. The Castlewood map was the last serious attempt at volunteer mapping. I never got field notes from several of the checkers and ended up having to patch it together at the last minute. The result is not something I'm particularly proud of.
I have no objection to reviving the practice, but it would need some reasobly strong leadership. I don't think I can provide that right now given my other committments. You might want to get a hold of John Lappe - he coordinated volunteer mapping in the past.
So this John Lappe will be the map committee sub-chair?:)
Whew! For a while there I thought I was the mapping chair, on the board, and running cross-country!
