Discussion: Grammar

Trust me to be nitpicky over grammar in an article about a plane crash but if you say 'Over 60-80 firefighters were involved', isn't it more grammatically correct to just write 'Over 60 firefighters were involved'? The former is indicating both a range and a lower limit in the one sentence, which is just dumb.

Don't see why Aldi needs to be involved in the selling of Australian flags (my understanding is even the major retailers didn't get stock until after they'd already put out hot cross buns). It's always been their policy to stock items that the majors don't!

Geoff did solicitously ask me if I was disappointed that I wouldn't be able to obtain an Australian-flag bikini this year :)

I'll just avoid the whole Aus Day fiasco this year by being in NZ instead.

Jenny, thanks for the tip about Panthers. We'll be back from Bali by Australia Day. I'll head out to Penrith and see if I can offload my holiday collection of wooden penises and t shirts saying "I'm not gay but 20 bucks is 20 bucks".
