rest day - feeling puggled after past few days (had flu vaccine on Thursday - maybe this didn't help?) Couple of hours sawing logs - hand saw so harder work then using power tools!
Up Morven to marshal at summit (big mistake...) Wind increased in force as we slogged up (heavy rucksack, heavy legs and generally feeling meh) then gale force at top and rain started. Huddled in 6 layers but legs getting cold so broke out Survival bag and instant relief from wind! Recording numbers of runners as they touched the trig point. 44 nutters (I mean racers) arrived then back down collecting canes as we went. Warmed up quickly once moving and by bottom was sweating despite removing most of the layers! Good example of how grim conditions can be on a summit - yet many of the racers were wearing shorts and vests... wouldn't give much for their chances if they broke an ankle!
Knockburn - Kerloch and back after dropping E at Stonie for his BOC/south trip Lovely bight morning, windy (esp on top) but t-shirt weather still. Legs felt very tired from the start but I ground the hill out with only 3-4 wee breaks, until last steep climb and had to walk a bit here. Up 45 down 31. Didn't linger long on top - too windy/cold so didn't really appreciate the views much. Track is getting a complete joke - just a washed out stream-bed for most of it with gullies and large stones/gravel and blown trees across it. The forest being impenetrable alongside it doesn't help :-)
Deeside Way to east, down to riverbank and out to warren cottage, back via road and riverbank. Best I've felt running for months. Legs a little tired from Tuesday but breathing/heart seemed more controlled and just enjoyed it :-). thought it would be cold but ended up running half taps aff. Hope its the start of more enjoyable running ...
Lap of Dess woods and fields above. Reverse - down Deeside way, up past Kennels cottage, out to fields then back along track to near falls. Feeling surprisingly good in legs and breathing. Lovely late afternoon, col air with bright sunshine and great views. Lots of leaves falling.
8 x 2 up drove road from Loch Davan to Cambus then up Cnoc Dubh. Good session, varying angles of track but all runnable. Last one was as real struggle - started on steepest part of climb :-)
steady run warm up/down 40:00 [3]
Parked in wee spot south of main BoV car park, then out past gingerbread house and round to Loch Davan corner. Started a couple of minutes up the hill and finished just short of summit of Cnoc Dubh. Back down ET and the rollercoaster. Good chat with NC near start.
