Knee not swollen but does feel a bit 'poppy', so, a mandatory rest day today. Unsurprising, really.

SOL2 , Culteuchar and Dron. M45S - 5.9km +240m. Having staggered to the start with a pounding headache from last night's celebrations in Peebles, today was all about getting round. The first few controls were a bit torturous but my head had finally cleared up by the time I got to the forest, which, of course, coincided with when I made my first and only mistake, getting confused by the big rides and binning nearly 2 minutes. I did this last time I was here, too! Numpty.
Steady pace all the way, well off race pace but I kept grinding along and was only a couple of minutes (d'oh!) down on Tessa. Who, no doubt, was also taking it very easy, but it's good to see her getting back into it again! Also good to see Fi back and to meet little Freya :-). TRIMP 123.5

Early cycle on quiet country roads, to Inveroykel and back, before packing up the car and heading home. My back was much better today, and the sun came out for the first time this week, so it was all shaping up to be a lovely cycle until I noticed just at the farthest point that I had a slow puncture. Had to stop a couple of times on the way back to pump things back up again, and I couldn't get more than 50psi in the tyre with the little pump - so it was a bit of a grind getting back. The views down the Kyle of Sutherland were still lovely, though, and I only saw 9 cars in 40km (25km of solitude between cars 4 and 5!). TRIMP 142.9.

Cycled back to Ardgay from Dornoch, having spent the day there with the family. Pretty tired after being on my feet all day, but this would still have been a nice cycle had it not been straight into a stiff headwind for 26 of the 30km. Pretty pooped and sore by the end - painkillers and wine (with a suitable gap between the two, honest!). TRIMP 104.8.

Sore back from Sunday meant a rest day yesterday, but I got out pre-breakfast today for a wee spin around the local back-road loop of Strathcarron before we headed off to Dunrobin Castle and Golspie for the day. LB niggle still niggling. TRIMP 88.6.
