Note

Here's how I would rank the movies I saw yesterday (Note: the acting was superb in all, so no need to compare on that point):

1. True Grit: not the most original story, but great characters. Scenery was fantastic and they put down Quantril's Raid :) Did anyone else notice the striking resemblance between Hailee Steinfeld and Anna S-S?

2. Toy Story 3: good plot, made one cry, good pacing. My favorite TS, I think.

3. 127 Hours: I had read the book and wondered how it could be translated to film. It worked great, with flashbacks and hallucinations. Really enjoyed this movie.

4. The Fighter: Yawn. Why do people make boxing movies any more? I could have predicted the whole plot before I even saw it. Fabulous acting and the fact that is was a true story were the only saving graces.

5. The Kids Are Alright: again, the acting made it slightly worthwhile. The plot was absolutely nothing new. As someone else Tweeted yesterday, this movie belongs in the "I'm just happy to be nominated" category

getting in a little bit of exercise at home today. Heading out soon to the Best Picture Showcase. Not sure how my body will deal with sitting all day, but I'm looking forward to the movies. Only downer is I'm missing the PTOC meet on a new map (the O meet was rescheduled, and I had already bought my tickets to the movies).

Found a seat and watched a few minutes of Toy Story 3. But since I've already seen it, I ducked out to re-run a sprint course at JCCC.

Now back in my seat and ready for
127 Hours
The Kids are alright
True Grit
The Fighter
