Run - Trail warm up/down 26:33 [2] 3.92 km (6:47 / km) +68m 6:14 / km

Usual warm up with a few drills and such carry on. Legs feeling okay once moving. Definitely picking up the start of the start of the cold that Marktwo has though - throat a bit sore but think it will be grand for today.

Run - Orienteering race 56:45 [5] 9.0 km (6:18 / km) +361m 5:15 / km
shoes: VJ Supra 14

WMOC Long Final, M40, 7.9km, 260m, 15 controls.

What to say about this? Very pleased to get another medal finishing third again but also disappointed that it didn't provide more of a technical challenge, especially after LQ2 (map now up with link on Thursday) and the model event.

Physically I ran as hard and better than I have all year and I didn't leave any questions out there. I didn't have the 100 seconds needed to get to the (joint) gold in my legs and was only a matter of seconds ahead of 4th, so not room for complaint there.

The first third of the course was through very fast and open pine forest, more hills than the previous races, which made it hard work but there was also quite a bit of track running.

The middle third mainly consisted of a long leg into the green. I opted for the tack option as the straighter choice had potential to get stuck in the green (which is very hard to move through at anything less than 10mpk). Turns out that there was very little difference in the times with Nick taking 30 seconds out of me by going straight - but he was also running a bit quicker. We then had a short easy leg in the green before leaving it for good - was really hoping for a few technical short legs in here.

The last third just felt like an extended run-in, no technical challenge at all and lots of flat out running. The small hills were hard work though.

Overall I'm very happy with my performance, maybe lost a total of 30 seconds today and only maybe 10 seconds of that was avoidable. Had no chance to make it to the top step of the podium with Nick and the Finnish guy but really please to be able to hold off some good runners not far behind.

Very easy warm down. Throat a bit sore all right but I didn't notice it during the race. Tired, both physically and mentally. Hot afternoon.
