Wanted to do this for a while; seemed like a good challenge and a good way to tick off pretty much a whole mountain range.

Terrible start as FB on map 200m from start didn't exist and had to go around to the ford. But after that, first 7 summits all fine and fairly straightforward. First steep contouring required around to 8. First steep climb up to Yarlside 11@ 639m, then immediately another steep down and up to 12 followed by a lovely ridge run.

15 and 19 more really steep climbs, but the weather was good and my target 9 hours was looking possible. Ran out of water on the way to brown moor 25 just after passing a lovely spring - wish I'd looked at the map as despite there being constant stream crossings up to that point, there was then nothing all the way to 38! Spent a good 90mins really thirsty until found a muddy puddle...luckily the filter worked and no ill effects. Didn't taste great though. Went down and up rather than contouring to 38 just to go via a proper stream! Luckily after 26, there were no more really big climbs.

There was no nice way down from 40, after the whole day of lovely grass, stuck in bracken which got higher and higher until reaching head height. So last 4k back to the car took far longer than expected, and missed my target. But never mind! It was notional anyway; challenge target is 12 hours so all good.

5 clif bars and some shot bloks were fine. Came back and had a sandwich and an entire quiche. Worth it.
