Ill still. Boring. Poor sleep too as Lozza is ill. Got loads of DIY done today though.

Road running 5:09 [3] 0.6 mi (8:35 / mi)
ahr:167 slept:8.0

After 5 mins of staggeringly slow jogging, with the HR still phenomeanally high, I decided that perhaps my cold was a bit too bad for me to be running. Shame as for the first time in months I felt like an athlete during the day today. Looking forward to getting some good training done. Getting a bit keener again. Even thought I might enter some orienteering...

Was at the Naylors in the evening and after a few too many celebratory drinks (their 5th wedding anniversary) we had the most excellent game of 'real' table tennis. I am quite seriously thinking of going to decathlon this week to get a table tennis set. It was very funny, and would be pretty good for agility.

Cross training 40:00 [3] 2.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
ahr:125 slept:7.5

Cycle to work in the pouring rain & pitch black with a crappy cold. I had no choice. The van is at the garage and I can't get to Laurence's school quick enough to pick him up this lunchtime without cycling. So frustrating. Thought I was going to die.
12 PM

Cross training 35:00 [3] 2.0 mi (17:30 / mi)
ahr:120

Better than this morning. Was not pissing it down. Was not dark.

ahr:156 slept:6.5

A bit ill still
4 PM

Road running 44:00 [3] 5.6 mi (7:51 / mi)

Ran to nursery. Felt shocking. No energy whatsoever. Hamstring bad, hip ok. Then froze to death picking the kids up while dripping wet. Took me 45 mins from stopping running to getting inside. Not good

Road running 49:00 [3] 6.0 mi (8:10 / mi)

Coming down with something, so skived off morning running with Tessa and just jogged home.

Cross training 35:00 [3] 2.0 mi (17:30 / mi)
ahr:115 slept:7.0

Cycle to work. Bitterly cold. Might have to swap to running it. The canal is too dark, will be too dangerous on a frosty day, and cycling is too cold. Also it is hard to get my hr over a measly 115 when I can't really go for it as it is so dark (there is no way I would cycle to work on the roads). Might have to redesign my training a bit.

Intervals - long endurance 1:05:00 [3] 7.0 mi (9:17 / mi)

Martin's. thought running with Graeme would be fun & not too much of a killer. He usually does 4:40's. we did 4:31, 4:34, 4:31, 4:31, and 4:34 I think. It all felt renmarkably easy-ish, but was quicker than I intended. Fun though. Reps hr must have been 165-170

Run to work. Hamstring and hip had calmed down significantly with a day off. Could be a good idea to take time off now. If I could get them both shifted by a week or so off it would be amazing. I'll ask the physio later. Maybe I might suffer later by having run this morning pre breakfast, and with only having had champagne and chocolate for dinner last night, and I'm not going to get breakfast until 10-ish either.

Road running 49:00 [3] 6.4 mi (7:39 / mi)
ahr:148

Home again.
3 PM

Road running 34:36 [3] 4.5 mi (7:41 / mi)
ahr:146

In homage to ray's excellent marathon yesterday (2:28, did I mention it???) I ran back from loanhead after taking the campervan there to get fixed.

Physio said hip is just muscles getting tired as glutes are not firing. Recommends a week of glutes stuff on top of normal training to see if it helps. Gait analysis next thurs will hopefully help get to the bottom of the hamstring problem.
