XC / road / hill race 21:56 [3] 3.1 mi (7:05 / mi)

Roundshaw downs park run.

My brother-in-law is the UK park run king:

He used to be quite good, but not any more. He was <9 stone, but not any more. These facts could be related. Richard keeps his wins record going by seeking out ever more obscure park runs, with ever lamer times required to win. Roundshaw downs is one such park run, just a mile from his parent's house. I did' t really have any excuse not to do it. Jogged over with Ray, at what felt like my race pace, but was only 8:20miling.

I have been avoiding park runs for ages as I don't want to know how unfit I am. Now I know. I was pleased to get sub 22, esp as it was an xc version of a park run - hilly and muddy. Beaten by a depressing amount of 5-year-old-looking boys though - onwards and upwards. Splits were 6:57, 7:17 and 7:17.

Ray was 2nd. We are going back tomorrow, and the person that beat him is not running so hopefully we can cajole Richard into running to see a good race. Before the race I told Ray I was going for a negative split for the 2 day/2 park run 10k. Now I am not so sure.

Trail running 25:00 [3] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Jog there / back. Considerably slower coming back without Ray.
