Did he work in the iron smelter? I would recommend visiting and staying a night . The restaurant is superb and there is extensive Mt biking, roller skiing and...golf. There is of course an O map which has Hittaut.

A visit there is definitely on the agenda for when we finally make it to the Uppsala O-Ringen.

My great-grandfather left for the US when he was 20, then he was back in Högbo from about age 30 to 35, then he returned to Worcester, and that's where my grandfather was born. I haven't found anything in the census records indicating what he or his father did for a living in Sweden (hard to read some of the ornate hand-written records), though in the 1900 census in the US he was listed as a "Wire Drawer". He died when my grandfather was only 5, so the family oral history is limited. There was even some confusion about his name until I did a bunch of genealogy research.
