Mike and I hiked the Hockley Loop. We were joined with 2 of our friends from high school. The weather was really good and it was great to catchup with everyone.

Orienteering 2:30:00 [3]

Saturday morning I finally started to feel better in my back and I actually thought I could do this run. Had a great time running with 2 strong women from ARX. One had done the race before so I tasked her with being the primary navigator. The other had never done it before, but is a strong runner so I knew she'd have no problems.

They were amazing out there. I really tried to let them do the navigation and only correct when they might go off course. They navigated almost the whole course on their own with me just calling out features, etc to look ahead for.

Super fun to run with both of them and we ended up beating the older brother's team by 10 min.

Note

If anyone out there in AP land is interested and available to run the half-raid this weekend with 2 kids from ARX please reach out to me. They are strong runners and just not confident they can do this on their own (even though they can). I was signed up to run with them with the plan that I would just be there to support their nav decisions, not make them. My back is still really tight/sore so I'm starting to get worried I won't be able to run and I don't want to leave them hanging.

Note

Well, lesson learned that I shouldn't have run on Monday after the weekend. My back is pretty tight and sore now. I'm going to have to give it time to see if I'm able to go on Sunday.

Note

Spending the rest of the weekend trying to put flooring down in the house. This is always hard on my back, so taking it easy the rest of the weekend in terms of working our.

A good run on the grand valley trail. Started at Dryden tract and ran through Sudden tract, then followed the trail until it ends at a road. Did the 2 hills on the road and then turned around. This is a good little section of trail, very hilly and mostly single track.
