Orienteering race 47:48 [4] 4.5 km (10:37 / km) +230m 8:28 / km

6th stage SOW.

Again in Gibel. Even though I was quite sceptic regarding the use of master maps and organizing an alternative stage within 12 hours it turned out to be a great event. The map was as challenging as the first time and I was lucky enough to get to the finish before the rain started.
3-4 times 1-1.5min mistakes made the run more or less ok for this type of terrain.

7/69 - 6.40 behind the winner

Overall 6th - I guess pretty much the maximum I could hope for in my current shape

Orienteering race 46:47 [4] 4.5 km (10:24 / km) +230m 8:17 / km

5th stage SOW

Very challenging and though terrain to run. Struggled quite a bit as I am physically quite at my limits at the time to run such terrain. A 1.5min and another 3.5min mistake towards the end made the run pretty disappointing in the end. Still ended up 11/77 but 8.40 behind the winner.

Orienteering race 1:12:47 [4] 11.0 km (6:37 / km) +260m 5:55 / km

4. Stage SOW

Bugger I guess I missed my best chance of the week.
some smaller mistakes in the beginning and my legs felt really crap. In the second part the downhill started and I got into quite a nice flow - not great but ok. However, struggled in every little climb. Made an absolut silly mistake towards the end where I missed a straight downhill control in the open part and had to climb up again 30meter what cost me 3.5min. Quite annoying as I looked at the re-entrant where the control was standing but let myself fool by an unmapped spring.Lost some further time to the finish even though I tried to persuade myself that even with that kind of mistake a good result is possible in HAL.

5/75 - 4.40 behind daniele

Running 2:10:00 [1] 8.5 km (15:18 / km) +700m 10:50 / km

walking up to the start and down again - even though it was a nice terrain it think it is quite a strech to bring 2000 people up there for a 60min run

Orienteering race 1:02:53 [4] 9.0 km (6:59 / km) +340m 5:53 / km

3. stage SOW - Glattalp
Technically allright - made one 2min mistake (route choice) to control 7 where I went straight through the stony areas instead of taking the wussy route around;) - another 2-3min mistakes overall
Fast and easy start with rocky and tricky area as for the last 2/3 of the course. nice orienteering!

highlight for me was definitively a 20m swim in the middle of the race as a small stream turned out to be a 20m wide and 2m deep connection of two small lakes. Only alternative would have been to run ca 400m extra (once you were already there) but as the SOW camera men was standing there I decided to take the real route choice;) However, my swimming technique in orienteering clothes was even worse than a dog swimming...

3/77 - my best result for quite a while
- swimming was fast in case you were stuck in the middle route choice (lost only 46sec on 6min to the fastest but was more than 2min faster than Phil or Andi
- the route choice cost me ca 3min - what a shame

Orienteering race 1:19:27 [4] 10.0 km (7:57 / km) +480m 6:24 / km

2. stage SOW.
pretty foggy after the start. some smaller mistakes but otherwise technically quite good . Unfortunately a control was misplaced what cost me ca 4min - let's see what the organizers will decide.
Fast and easy to orienteer start, some nice rocky areas in the middle and again fast and easy (but muddy) ending.
Astonishing 480m climb - the course setter announced 270...

Stage 2 will not be counted for HAL and HE
