First post-surgery run. Went ok. Plan was short and easy.
Glad I had on studded shoes - 1-2" of fresher stuff over ice in many places.
See,ed like a lot of bounce in my gut, but not uncomfortable.
A few people, a few dogs, all well behaved.

XC Ski 56:56 intensity: (39 @0) + (11:05 @1) + (25:57 @2) + (19:15 @3) 5.98 km (9:32 / km) +94m 8:50 / km

Woke up this morning to freezing rain, rather than the 1-3" of fresh that the NWS had forecast. Turned over to snow about 7 am and we ended up with 2-3 inches overall of fairly heavy wet stuff.
Finally got out the door late afternoon (although without either side-kick, who each declined with polite "No thank you"s).
Figured the new stuff would be at most rolled, or completely untouched. Untouched it was, other than the few folks who had been out ahead of me. The snow was warm enough that I was getting build-up under the skis in the fresh parts, so tried to stay in the semi-packed chaos tracks of skiers, snowshoers and the occasional attempts someone had made at skating in it. Reversed Cobble, with a tough slog up the s-curves with skis getting higher and higher off the ground with buildup, then out Birch, cutting over to Maple at the first trail. Firecut and Oak were OK, evidence of a couple of fat bikers weaving back and forth. Back along Birch, continued the reverse of Cobble and in just before dark.
No injuries or aggravation - deep/hard double-poling is out for now. Could feel some stretching with full out classic striding, but it was more of a good stretching out than an "oh-shit, I've pulled something" feel.
Querying, then listening to my body at the end - a good workout, pushing the envelop a little bit, but let's ease back on the next outing.

XC Ski - Skate 33:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (10:00 @2) + (13:00 @3) 6.0 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: '10 Salomon Equipe 8 Skate Ski

Evening gentle ski at Gunstock by headlamp. Colder than I expected - could have used warmer gloves. Trails were groomed for classic - HS race there this afternoon, so skating was not the best choice, but that was the equipment I had with me.
