Wasn't ready early enough to go to Birmingham today so that will have to wait for another day. Instead did a similar distance of streets in Worcester, with enough into the wind to be glad it wasn't a long linear run. Completed most of the Cotswolds and some of the Lakes. And what seems to be professions?

Saw the Labour party activist and somebody else out litter picking. Challenged to a race by some kids on scooters who were polite (and very gracious in defeat!). Covered the distance ok, so all good.

Maybe not the best use of a weekend in the Midlands, but at least not totally wasted. Now have a lot of ice hockey to catch up on back home!

Western Night League at Wyche Ridge. Expected it to be too steep for me and it was. Went up the top early and unlucky that it was thick fog then - couldn’t even see the ground if torch was on head. So had to go with torch in had at waist level for 7 minutes - struggled with any confidence descending as a result as didn’t want to fall and break torch.

S-9-7-6-5-12-16-27-11-13-15-28-14-17-10-8-19-F. 310 points I think.

Unsure where I was actually going to go but knew I wouldn’t be able to do all of it, and north part (with more points) looked to have more on steep slopes that I would enjoy less so thought I would stick to a south loop. At the top, priority was to get low quickly where I could see - wrongly assumed rest of the ridge would be foggy too.

Didn’t enjoy drop down to 16 much! Just missed 27 and lost a couple of minutes looking around. Knew 11 would be a pretty massive feature but not where I expected from the path, and then didn’t really like descending the steep path down the hill. On 33 minutes at 13 so reluctantly determined timed out of planned route 20-21-22-28 and opted for shorter route not losing height to 15. At the top by 17 with enough time to retain the bottom loop 28/14 though. Had enough time to get back ok but still lost a while on 19 - weak feature that others seemed to miss too.

Overall, damage limitation but was always going to be a score to drop. Filled out the hour with bona fide effort rather than distoring my handicap - and was happy enough during my “run” for it to be worthwhile.

Still not feeling it. Hope to be more keen by the weekend as planning to be more ambitious (though still shorter than last weekend...)

Cinderford MapRun. Always a nice area to explore - but nasty strong wind making it feel very cold at the top. Not really feeling it still.

S-13-6-30-9-14-29-17-19-24-28-15-3-10-21-22-8-23-18-12-27-11-5-26-20-2-16-25-1-F. 580 points.

Started east as everyone else went south, but that looked a better finish. Quite a lot of dead running, uphill and into the wind so points came slowly. On way to 9 decided to add an inner loop in and sweep 19 up with it. Good idea, but should have started with 24 to save a bit of distance. Also made parallel error 29-17 so could have done much better route to west.

Once down the bottom started dropping the 10 pointers as was a little late with all the climb still to come, but felt like probably enough time for 7 if prepared to rush and get stressed at the end. Well ahead of schedule by 11 so added 5 back in. A bit slow up the hill to finish but kept moving.

Shift 24 to be with 9, and add 4 after 23 - think at current pace would add about 2.5 mins, so just about doable on current form if I got the route right and stayed committed.
