Various (hiking) 6:20:20 intensity: (3:00:00 @1) + (3:20:20 @2) 19.0 km (20:01 / km) +1850m 13:28 / km
shoes: Asics Kayano 08

Hiking from Jorges house (700m) up to Cerro Alto la Cruz (2550m). Leaving early was a good Idea because half of the uphill I could hike in the shade of the hill and higher up the temperatures were moderate. In the last third there was some easy climbing along the ridge, a lot of fun but you would not want to fall on these passages. My running shoes were not the ideal choice for this hike but my hiking boots will only arrive tomorrow :-))! Many nice view over Santiago all the tiime unfortunately my camera ran out of battery after a couple shots...
This somehow feels strange, on one hand you have a 6 million city and right next to it you have the andes going up to more than 3000m...

O-"Trainign" with Jorge at the Parque Metropolitano, a park in the middle of Santiago. It was one of the first maps he made and it's almost six years old. The vegetation was not up to date and the 10m contour lines made it even more challenging. However it was fun and nice to run on the map.

Running 30:55 intensity: (7:32 @1) + (14:51 @2) + (8:17 @3) + (15 @4) 5.69 km (5:26 / km) +29m 5:18 / km
ahr:124 max:151 shoes: Asics Kayano 08

I ran with Jorge on anoter park map, again, just running around not orienteering. Half of the park was unfortunately closed due to a christmas fare, so it was a lot of zig zaging around.

Running 24:40 intensity: (19 @1) + (2:27 @2) + (15:10 @3) + (6:44 @4) 4.74 km (5:12 / km) +26m 5:04 / km
ahr:146 max:156 shoes: Asics Kayano 08

Because the run in the park was only half an hour I decided to run back to Jorges house.

What a great day. Yesterday Rodolfo (a friend I know from my time in the USA) picked me up at the airport and showed me the basics of Santiago.
Today he and his wife picked me up at the hostel and we drove to the coast. First we went to a place called Quintay. A gorgeouse beach which we had all for us alone! We walked about one hour along the beach and I even got a bit of bouldering in. Then we drove to the tiny port which had a hand full of very nice restaurants. Rodolfo knew which one we had to take and we had this perfect lunch. First an appetizer of baked shrimps and then a great grilled fish. What a treat!

Then we continued to Valparaiso. This is a very nice city on the sea with many houses built up along the surrounding hills. This would be a great place for sprint-o! We were taking an elevator up to a place with beautiful views and started wantering around the city. Once we got stopped by the police which said whe should turn around because we would enter a not so safe area...

After a yummy peach juice we went back to the car and drove over to the other side of the bay where a more modern beach town lies (Vina del Mar). This is the complete opposite of Valparaiso with high rise towers lining the beach front. We drove along the beach and took a short stroll before driving back to Santiago.
