Note
(injured)

Calf strain update. Tried to go for a walk last night but could only hobble. Earlier in the day I was able to walk and shuffle along without any discomfort but it looks like I over did it. Now I have a pain when I walk.

Road bike (Floreat Renegade) 1:40:00 [5] 46.0 km (27.6 kph)
weight:89.2kg shoes: Amiata Torino

Karl, Chris, Tooms and I today. Fast pace pretty much throughout I thought. Lead a couple of times to Leighton and then in Dalkeith, after which Karl and Chris took off and I got dropped for a little while. We lost Tooms at the first MP hill and then permanently at Claremont when he called it a day and took his bike home. Chris lead out strong on Hackett drive, could not keep up after a while, and then super charged Karl sped past with a friend we picked up at Devil's Elbow. They then went on via Kings Park for some hill work. My calf strain felt fine on the bike.

Adventure Race race (KillaMetro) 35:00 [5] 5.5 km (6:22 / km)
shoes: Epic V10

KillaMetro race. Nearly started with my extra shirt on, got it off and then my bladder and pfd on again and by then people were running to the oval looking for two pegs of different colour. Calf popped almost immediately, not the best start. Back to rehab for me.

Paddle leg started fine, caught up with Ricky and Tim at cp1, saw a queue and went on to x6. Ran down Ricky on the way back after cp1, Tim caught up too and started sitting on my heels, in not too subtle a way by constantly bumping my boat. Got to cp2 and thought about skipping it but saw a bunch clear out and only two there - thought they'd move on but Ann couldn't reach the punch. Finally got it punched, backed out, turned and then saw Tim coming out fast, called out and then tried to paddle out of the way asap but he went square into the tail and cut a nice hole on the side. Thought about continuing at first but turned out coming back was the right decision as the boat was filling up and sitting lower and lower. Made it back but there was a lot of water coming out of the boat, amazing how heavy it becomes with water in it.

A coffee and muffin, bit of volunteering and watching the rest of the race. Only mistake was not putting my punch card in for the draw at the end!
