Running long 2:23:00 [3] 17.5 mi (8:10 / mi)
shoes: Olway Tigers

Long slow run. Started from the bottom of the Holme Fell road, with a vague plan of heading to Ambleside and back. Didn't quite achieve that due to some wrong turnings and icey running conditions. Loops round Stang End, Little Langdale and Elterwater. Really lovely run, but not exactly feeling amazing. Nice to do some exploring round the lakes and a good weekend's training.

Running 1:48:00 [3] 7.5 mi (14:24 / mi) +600m 11:32 / mi
shoes: Olway Tigers

Down in the Lake District with SEDS. Decided to take advantage of the fact I was surrounded by hills: set off from Hoathwaite Farm, just north of Torver, along the Cumbria way to Coniston, then headed up The Old Man of Coniston before returning a slightly more direct route over the fells. Beautiful still, snowy conditions, but the path up the old man was covered in ice. Fun running past people in crampons, with ice axes. Would probably have been helpful to have a map though. Didn't quite make it to the top unfortunately; wasn't sure how slow I would have to go on the way down. Since it was shrouded in mist, there would have been no view anyway. Awesome wee adventure, working pretty hard up the hill.

Running 1:00:22 intensity: (50:22 @2) + (10:00 @4) 10.0 km (6:02 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudroc 290

Change of scene and down to Haverigg for some dunes. Couldn't quite decide what to do with this session; rare I run two in a day. Wanted a bit of intensity, but was a bit knackered frankly. In the end I had a pretty easy run round the dunes, with 10x45/15 thrown in. It may have been more purposeful to do some o. Oh well, miles in the tank.

Collected some flags, cause I'm a helpful fellow.

Swimming 40:00 [2]

Decided to give the calves a rest, so Fi and I headed to the uni for a wee swim. Bought some goggles. Broke them.

Orienteering race 46:30 [4] 4.1 km (11:20 / km)
shoes: Olway Tigers

FVO Night Race, Sauchie Crags.

Well, this forest is a bit wrecked. Which is gutting. I still had great fun though; random ming adding to the adventure and unpredictability.

Things didn't look too good on the way to 1, where I was a bit slow setting off and then got a bit caught up in windblow. So did everyone else though and I popped out just as Nixon was going past. I passed Steve Nic on the track - a recurring theme - as Doug passed me. Round 2, 3, 4 I was pretty much in touch and joined by Grump. Up the hill to 5 the first two got away, but I was still with Forest and Hector until I buggered up 6 by being way too low. Got there at the same time as Jon, but he had to tie his shoelaces.... By 8 I was passing the Russian lassie and Steve Nic again, by 9 Steve was back in front as I got stuck. Rog joined us here momentarily, not realising we'd already got it, but we all got together again at 11, which was, eh, nicely tucked away. Hector got bored looking but the rest of us got it together and there was a group of five round the last few controls. Forest ran into a fence, I got ahead and then pathetically stuck in a very small bit of windblow and was quite far behind. Managed to catch up with Rog before we entered fallen trees I thought we may never get out of.... Luckily I found a wee gap and we made it home unscathed. Didn't fancy collecting controls mind. Eventful race!

Running warm up/down 36:00 [3] 6.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Adidas AdiZero Tempo

Train was delayed, so headed out the the yooni for a solo session.

Running intervals 20:00 [5] 4.8 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Adidas AdiZero Tempo

Thought I would go for 6xuni back road, off 5 minutes. Not quite the perfect session. The route was taking me longer than I remembered (never good...) so recovery was only 50 seconds. Had a bit of a faff with my watch after the first one.... sorted that then my right achilles/lower calf started being a bit sore. Decided to call it a day after 4. Once home, it became clear my calves had turned into bricks. Massage, stretching and maybe a little less road running required.
