Event: INT SoSOL 7

11 AM

Orienteering race 38:42 intensity: (20 @0) + (2 @1) + (2 @2) + (3:38 @3) + (19:07 @4) + (15:33 @5) 6.34 km (6:06 / km) +30m 5:58 / km

INT SOSOL, Tulliallan, Blue course - 5.1km? Something like that. Delighted I got out for this; single parent for the weekend but so was Jase, so we buddied up on the childcare. Worked a treat.

O wise I ran pretty hard in the forest but was scrappy; then was too unfit to run hard at a sustained pace on the track legs. Ended up second by a minute or so (at time of leaving) - decent enough time, but I left maybe 3 minutes out there due to poor close control and one sub-optimal route choice. No knee grumbles - ace - although my back continued to be grumbly, as it has been since the Milan trip on Tuesday. Didn't affect me running, though.

Running (Road) 32:50 intensity: (25 @0) + (1:32 @1) + (6:07 @2) + (18:20 @3) + (6:26 @4) 6.22 km (5:17 / km) +52m 5:04 / km
ahr:144 max:161 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 17

Early jog around Barbush and Laighills before B heads off until Sunday lunchtime - sole chance to get any exercise in today. It's been a rubbish week. Slow. Expected it to be more muddy in Laighills after o/n rain, but it was OK - and the rain stopped before I headed out. Nice to be out this early. Amazed to see how many new houses have appeared at Barbush since I was last down that way! TRIMP 63.6

Easy jog up to and around the Gathering Stane, just trying to keep mobile but not niggle my back further. Knees mostly behaving (R taped). Gorgeous afternoon. Seems the big new house up at the steading is now occupied - what a great spot! TRIMP 72.7

Note
(rest day)

Crip today, back really killing me. Went for a 35 minute walk before breakfast to try to ease things off - 10 mins or so before I was able to walk properly. More stretching afterwards, then a 10 min walk to the site before a day spent standing around, presenting, exhibiting, walking around airports and cramped into aeroplane seats. Back crip again by the time I got home. Stupid business travel.

Running (Road) 30:00 [2] 4.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 15 GTX

Very easy jog from the hotel in Milan before festivities commenced, just to stretch the legs and ease the back after being cooped up in planes and airports all day. 25C - nice.

Strength training (Pilates) 1:00:00 [1]

FVO Pilates lead by GG today - since we were having such a fun time hammering our glutes, lower backs and core we spurned the circuits in favour of a full 60 minutes of slow self-flaggelation. Owee.
7 PM

Running (Road) 25:00 [2] 4.0 km (6:15 / km) +80m 5:41 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 17

Jogged down to the hall before Pilates and then, since I'm going to be stuck in planes and airports for the next two days, I decided to take a longer route home. Both knees protesting on any uphill gradient, however slight - L one consistently and in a PT-kind of way, the R one occasionally and in a medial ligament kind of way. Total and utter crock! TRIMP 25.
