MTB offroad 45:00 [2] 10.0 km (13.3 kph)

Cycling back to Yarmouth from the campsite, fully laden again, this time with wet kit after the overnight downpour.

Note

Still not shifted this cold. It's gone from my head but is now lingering on the chest. Struggled with breathing while cycling, and everytime I pushed hard I just ended up coughing and wheezing. Not great timing for the Bristol Half in 3 weeks. Have done no running for a week and am worried because I only have 2 weeks to get myself back up to speed before I need to start tapering down.

MTB offroad 3:00:00 [3] 42.0 km (14.0 kph)

Cycling on the Isle of Wight with Laura. Laura had 2 full panniers, a rucksack and a saddle bag. I had my KIMM sack. Rode the old railway from Yarmouth to Freshwater Bay then up and over the chalk ridge to the campsite at Compton Bay. 5 miles. Unloaded the bikes and set up camp, then set off unladen for the rest of the day. Cycled up and over Tennyson Down to the Needles and Alum Bay, Freshwater, Fort Victoria Country Park, Yarmouth, Thorley, Wellow, back over the ridge, and down to the campsite. 21 miles.

Bike on road (Bike to work) 25:00 [2] 9.7 km (23.3 kph)

Feeling a lot better today. All bunged up with catarrh but feeling better.

Bike on road (Bike home from work) 40:00 [3] 14.2 km (21.3 kph)

After this morning's ride I thought I was over the cold and was hoing to get a gentle run in after the ride home. By the time I was home, though, I was wheezing and coughing and pretty much spent for the night. Running will now have to wait until next week.

Core Strength (Drills) 1:00:00 [2]

Session 3. Much the same as before with a few new drills. Paul says I'm starting to take shape; keeping upright, developing good form, using my full leg length.

Found it hard work tonight, still suffering with my cold. Heart rate was abnormally high and I got out of breath easily. Was hoping to run afterwards but decided against it.

Core Strength (Core strength) 35:00 [2]

Having opted out of Team Monday this week I took the oportunity to get on with some more bedroom floor action. Did the same '15 minute' session as I did last week, but doubled everything to try to make it hurt. It did. Then I added some push-ups, plank, crunches, oblique crunches and side planks on to the end.

Note

A week of hard training and not enough sleep, and predictably I have a cold lurking in my head. Felt crap all day at work. That added to the right knee ITB pain I picked up again yesterday led me to be sensible and rest from running tonight. I stayed in while Team Monday went out and enjoyed themselves.
