Up C2 (cruised up most of the hairpins which surprised me greatly) and up Kennedys then down Flying Nun, along the traverse and down the zig zag and Bowenvale downhill. That is a super fun track. Can't wait to give it another go! Pretty tired but riding well.

From the Bowenvale road end up the valley to the top and back down via the anti-hayfever route. A teeny tiny bit of walking because I am so weak at this running thing after 2 1/2 weeks just biking. Silly Katie...should have done something easier/shorter but I'm a sucker for the hills.

Makara Peak loop with Michael. Not my day plus ridiculously epic amounts of wind on the tops which was frightening. I don't think I like Wellington all that much if this is what it's like! Really enjoyed racing down Swigg track.

Up Polhill with Cindy (and Michael) and then back down the road.

So many tracks and not enough time! NOOOOO!!! Anyway, we got up early yet again and biked the Tree Trunk Gorge loop in the Kaimanawas. Beautiful forest but my body dead. The gorge itself is incredible. You've got to check it out.

So, when you only have 1 day in Taupo it only makes sense that you have to try and ride as much as possible right? Everyone said we had to ride the Great Lake Trail and since we seem to be anti shuttles it was going to be long. I was at least vaguely sensible and let Michael drop me off at the top of the first track on Whangamata Rd while he parked at Kinloch and biked back to me. Then we rode down the Orakau track then K2K (Kawakawa Bay to Kinloch) then the W2K and Headland tracks (except we rode Kinloch to Whakaipo where we both cooled off in the lake with a nice swim) before biking back over the W2K to Kinloch where the car was. It's something like 60km of twisty singletrack so you can never really pick up super amounts of speed before you have to slam on the brakes to get round the next corner. We both had achey wrists by the end and I had pretty much reached breaking point!
