Running home from work the 'not very direct' way. Running through town is like a moving obstacle course and the number of streets, cars and lights and people you get stuck behind or a trying to dodge makes it sort of like mini intervals too. But much more frustrating. But I did get lots of tofu on the way. And I did fail completely to work my watch properly...again. But now I've found the old one I might just go back to that.
Oh yeah, I was slow. Slower than a snail. I partly blame the annoying obstacles but I also blame my useless runningness.

I couldn't be bothered running the last bit because I'm fat and lazy so I walked. But it was very cold so I probably should have just run.

Unfortunately Molly doesn't find my lap fat or squidgy enough for her to sit on though and that is sad.

With the Emily monster up the valley track and adventuring over to Lyttelton for delicious food. Werewolf Chris and Sexy M were also running but they were running like rockets so we left them to do silly boy things like ugly gullys and all that. Feeling hopelessly slow and unfit. Next weekend could be a laugh...of the depressing kind.
I have a new watch but clearly can't work it even though it's just a basic watch because yet again I think I must have pressed the wrong button after I finished and cleared the time entirely. I am not even technically capable of working a basic watch! Sigh. This is just a long-winded way of saying the time is a complete guess.

Up the Albert Terrace valley and dry creek which was not dry then over the top of Mt Vernon, round the Witch Hill loop and tussock bounding down the valley to the track. It was lovely outside (for winter). I felt a bit ill and my legs did not enjoy this uphill business when I had been promising them a long flat run at Bottle Lake instead but they obeyed...sort of.

Early morning run round the mean streets of, well, the local area and up the cool track off the corner of Major Aiken. Ran all the way up which was tough going although running might not be the best term for what I was doing. Of course the morning I plan to get up early had to be the morning that Molly didn't wake me up at regular intervals all night (just twice I think and she was asleep when the alarm went off which was unexpected) so the getting up process was harder than I had anticipated.

Freezing cold tandem ride with M up View Terrace and Huntsbury, down Major Aiken then up Hackthorne to the cup and back down Dyers to home. M was about to head up to the SOT but I'd gotten the shakes on the last climb and was feeling a bit like I was going to faint so we headed back. It took ages for my feet to defrost.

From work up to the rogaine. It counts 'cause it was up a hill with a far too heavy backpack and I got a bit tired. Georgia was stalking me the whole way :-P
Yeah, not really mtbing but I was on my mini giant. I still can't get over how much the front of a bike twitches. I just not used to this!

Cold, cold ride with M on the tandem up Rapaki and along the tops then down Mt Pleasant and home. Did I mention it was cold?
Molly is still hiding from us after keeping us awake half the night crying. It's heartbreaking.

Was going to get up early to go for a run in the new shoes but since I didn't get home from the supermarket until 11pm and then couldn't get to sleep for ages getting up early seemed like a terrible idea. I then thought I could go straight after work but then Abby said she was dropping Molly round not that long after I got home so there wasn't time. Oh well, I'll just become fat, slow and unfit then. But I did ride to work in the rain and, probably more importantly, I have a cat...even if she is hiding from us.

Went to Shoe Clinic to get fitted for some new road shoes since I haven't bought any in years and I clearly look like a slow girly jogger as, when I asked the lady if we could make the treadmill go faster (how about 10km/hr?) so I could actually see what they were like to run in rather than jog at walking pace, she told me that 10 was very fast.

Wed night run, the Katie is having a really bad day edition where they leave before I'm ready, I'm far too slow anyway, my shoes suck really bad on the slick surface so can't even run anyway and then I get so demoralised I decide to go tussock bashing by myself instead and end up getting mildly hyperthermic waiting for M to get back. Yep, this is a good week.
