running 1:15:00 [2]

I shuffled around on West Campus. It felt pretty good. I was moving slowly.

About half way through the run I slipped on some icy mud and fell on my left side. I was coated in mud on my left side. I found some snow and used that to wash off a bit. It was kind of a mess.

Ulrik's Hill was closed to traffic. The middle part of the hill was icy. It would be hard to stay on the road in a car. I guess that's why they closed it.

running 35:00 [2]

I shuffled around on West Campus. My lungs still aren't normal, but I don't think I'm making things any worse.

My legs were a little bit sore from yesterday's run. It is interesting how quickly that happens when you don't run for a couple of weeks.

running 20:00 [2]

I'm still not feeling normal, but I'm feeling good enough that not running was making me crazy. So I put on a bunch of warm clothes (temp is 6F) and shuffled around a little bit.

I got some new running shoes (Topo, not sure of the model). This was my first run with the new shoes. They felt good.

Note

The last 2-3 days of our vacation I began to notice some minor cold symptoms - mainly some coughing. Once we got home, the symptoms got worse and it was clear I wasn't going to get away with a minor cold. Oh well.

On the bright side, it was pretty much ok during vacation and the cold seems to be unpleasant but not overwhelming. I'm a bit tired, but not so tired I can't read, watch TV, or think.

One thing I've done to pass the time when I can't really do much - learn more about QGIS. I've been working on a big map of Yellowstone. We took the maps with us on vacation and they were useful - more detail than the park's ski trail maps. Yesterday, I worked on a NDVI layer (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) from landsat images. Fun to learn something new and get results that look useful.

I slept 11 hours last night and feel a lot better today. But, still not well.
