I ran in the terrain and on the trails at Rockcrusher. The trails aren't getting much use. Some of them have nearly disappeared. I stepped on an Osage Orange thorn. The thorn only went into my foot a little bit. I realized that orienteering in Kansas would be more pleasant if we had fewer thorns.
When I finished running, I did 45+ minutes of fieldchecking.
A double commute day. I biked from home to the office, back home, back to the office and then back home. I needed to be home for a couple of hours in the middle of the day to deal with the garage door repair.
Work commute. Perfect conditions - chilly but not too cold in the morning and then a tail wind for the trip home.

Trail run with the headlamp at Clinton. I ran with the Trailhawks. I can't usually be around a group of people and feel like I'm not a nerd. But tonight I was able to. We went for a good 15 minutes where the entire conversation was about computer programming and the Lord of the Rings.
I read some of the SAR (search and rescue) thread. It includes a link to a safety plan that includes;
"Weather Forecasts: To allow preparation for the day’s expected weather, the Champs staff will provide daily morning postings and will provide oral updates if necessary to reduce the risk of serious inclement weather catching participants unawares."
At some point it seems absurd (to me) that an event organizer takes repsonsibility for posting weather forecasts. It is a bit like the warnigns that coffee might be hot.

A short run after I got home from work and as preparation for watching tonight's KU basketball game on TV. It is the first exhibition game - KU v Washburn. The GPS track shows my special pre-game training.
Jayhawk fans will have no trouble understanding my route.
Easy runnning plus a bit of fieldchecking at Clinton. I was out for a bit over 2:30 and I figure the running portion was a bit of 90 minutes.
The fieldchecking was simple stuff - tweaking a trail where it was off, marking some individual trees, checking some rockwalls and a few other things. With the OL Laser images (I was using lutning and terrangskuggning) it went quickly.
I've nearly finished the extension to the Clinton overlook map. I've started working on an area of about 1 square km that includes Lake Henry.
