MTBO race (QLD Champs LD) 1:53:10 [4] 33.06 km (3:25 / km)
ahr:169 slept:6.0 shoes: Specialized Epic Marathon Car

Half the days climb in just getting to the start!! Gears running a lot smoother after yesterdays service.

Got the map with 1 min to start and looked at the quality of the print and had flash backs to Kangaroo Gully and 3campuses from a couple of years back. A low res print with pixelated contours and blurry lines. Seriously 2 NOL rounds and 2 major issues. Tried to fold the map correctly but managed to cover control 1 in sealing the board. Took off and then spent the next 1km trying to refold map on the go. Lost time in the process and also map contact but managed to make a correct guess at track and picked up the pace. Watched 2 riders ride off the map when i turned right and headed to 1.

Caught sight of Chris on way way to ctrl 2 as he started 3min behind me but managed to hold him off to ctrl 4. We rode 5,6,7 together before i decided to break away but read the conturs wrong and lost 5min on this leg to him. Picked up Gary Sutherland at this stage and played cat and mouse with him through to 11 before he broke away slightly ont he climb to 12. I was now flagging a bit due to the lack of sleep (pub had jukebox blaring awy to midnight and then the pissheads decided to head upstairs and slam doors and argue for the next hour or so before someone fell down the stairs. I think the manager finally kicked them out around 1.30am.) Turned onto the dead end track to punch 12 and was waiting to see gary fly out but no sign. I bolted in and out as qiuckly as possible to ensure i could gap him as much as possible. Managed to see him heading back to 12 as i blasted to 13 :-) The next 2 ctrls were easy.

Highlights: Good firm tracks that were super fast to ride on. Climbing strength improving. Held pace with Chris for quite a while.

Lowlights: Shit map print. Some dodgy map gradings. Confusing set of tracks marked and unmarked around ctrl 6. Cattle grids marked on maps in some places but not others.

MTBO race (QLD mtbo state champs) 1:15:21 [4] 19.09 km (3:57 / km)
ahr:171 max:186 slept:5.0 shoes: Specialized Epic Marathon Car

After an interrupted sleep from Perth to yarraman I was nervous about racing. Assembled bike and warmup everything seemed fine until 50m from start line I noticed my drivetrain developing major skipping. Noticed on way to control 1 that I now had a six speed front 3 worked dine and the 27 and 25 on the back.

Interesting race trying to keep up with chris firman and Ricky without my full arAy of gears. Happy with second place just disappointed I dropped 10 min on chris as I was no way feeling flat.

Have retuned bike and looking forward to tmoro

Road Cycling (Floreat renegade) 1:31:00 [4] 46.0 km (1:59 / km)
shoes: Giant TCR Advanced

Just about to roll out by myself when Andre turned up and then Shane made an appearance by the golf course.

Good ride this morning considering how the legs felt. Felt lethargic but was still able to hold a reasonable pace. Kept andre in check on both climbs and nailed the sprint at Udub when Shane thought he would throw in a very early challenge.
