running 42:00 [3] 8.5 km (4:56 / km)

Along the banks of the Torrens in the dark. Felt flat this morning, but the km rate was better than yesterday

A solid session of latin.

Monday Jul 27, 2009 #

running 36:50 [3] 8.2 km (4:30 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

A quick run in between the dentist and the man coming to quote on fixing the shower. Broke a tooth several weeks ago and this was the first available appointment. A relatively painlees experience, except for the bill at the end.

Sunday Jul 26, 2009 #

running 57:20 [3] 12.0 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

A bit unmotivated after a late night. Once I got going it was OK

Friday Jul 24, 2009 #

running 48:30 [3] 10.4 km (4:40 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

Lunchtime run and an opportunity to escape from the chaos that is rapidly decending on the workplace. The optomist in me says it can only get better, the pessimist worries about how long before it does.

Thursday Jul 23, 2009 #

running 38:00 [3] 8.0 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

3 days off was enough, starting to get twitchy, so a gentle lunchtime run was in order. No issues, so out again tomorrow.

Exercise session 20:00 [1]

(rest day)

Twinged a hammie yesterday, so a couple of days rest to be on the safe side.

running warm up/down 16:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: sarva ms

Warm up before o race and then longer warm down.

orienteering race 1:00:50 [4] *** 10.7 km (5:41 / km)
spiked:14/17c shoes: sarva ms

O race at Eppalock. Minor wobble on the first control, but then settled and was going well until 13. Dropped a couple of minutes. Hit the line of diggings and thought I was further up that I was, consequently turned the wrong way. Had to coe back up along the diggings. Settled agin and then dropped a couple of minutes on 16 when didn't take enough care with the compass across a vague section. Basic really, and was cross with myself abiout the stipid mistake. Another couple of minutes.
2 months since the last race, and didn't really get into race mode today.

Friday Jul 17, 2009 #

running 49:30 [3] 10.0 km (4:57 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

Another windy morning. Managed to avoid the worst of the headwind by adopting a triangular route. Initial side which was diagonally into teh wind was trhough the built up area which offered some protection. Then along the water front with a strong crosswind, and the final leg was tail wind. It was hard not to get blown along

Thursday Jul 16, 2009 #

running 51:30 [3] 10.2 km (5:03 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

very unpleasant conditions this morning. a very strong wind made it tough. side on it was strong enough to push you over to the edge of the path., and heading into it you almost went backwards

Wednesday Jul 15, 2009 #

running 45:30 [3] 9.0 km (5:03 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

This morning's run marks 800ks for the shoes, and the soles are showing signs of wear. Don't think these are going to get to 1000k, but will see how they go over the next week or so.
Another unremarkable run. Again the morning speed is noticably slower than at lunch or in the evening.

Tuesday Jul 14, 2009 #

running 50:40 [3] 11.0 km (4:36 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

Good solid run, but felt comfortable.

Monday Jul 13, 2009 #

running 51:40 [3] 10.1 km (5:07 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

Early morning run, it was cold and dark, and this was a bit of a struggle. Never really got into the rythm

Dancing 1:30:00 [1]

Over 6 weeks since the last session. The brain had forgotten a lot in that time, and the muscles had plenty of adjustment to do. 90 minutes of standing on toes, up and down etc was not something the legs had been used to for teh past month.

Sunday Jul 12, 2009 #

running 1:12:00 [3] 15.0 km (4:48 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

Longest run, bith time and distance for a while. Felt comfortable and didn't feel like the pace was being pushed.

Friday Jul 10, 2009 #

running 39:30 [3] 8.5 km (4:39 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

A bit shorter, bus all that there was time for. A couple of laps of Westgate Park. It was reasonably pleasnt out of then wind, but tough on the exposed bits into the wind

Thursday Jul 9, 2009 #

running 50:10 [3] 10.0 km (5:01 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

Early morning run. Very cool. Busy day and likely late finish, ruled out a lunchtime or evening run, so bit the bullet and braved the cool. Felt a bit sluggish, and tight in the thighs.

Wednesday Jul 8, 2009 #

running 57:20 [3] 12.0 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

Too cold this morning and no time in the evening meant a lunchtime run. Round the beach and back.

Tuesday Jul 7, 2009 #

running 1:00:10 [3] 12.0 km (5:01 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

Out early so that the day could remain free to catchup on the backlog. A basic uneventful run. It is very dark compared with the past couple of weeks.

Monday Jul 6, 2009 #

running 49:30 [3] 10.0 km (4:57 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

Reasonably easy run around the esplanade and back.
Struggled trough the day at work. 5 weeks away from the desk equates to around 1000 emails. Some one was sitting in the chair for the time and they had done a great job colour coding them all into different categories. Made working out wich ones to delete easier, and many had been actioned. Probably another day or so to sort through them thoroughly

Sunday Jul 5, 2009 #

running 33:50 [3] 7.0 km (4:50 / km)
shoes: asics overdraft (red)

Late afternoon run to get the legs working.

Friday Jul 3, 2009 #

running 48:00 [3] 10.2 km (4:42 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

Last run for the trip.Wasn'treally looking forward to it as there were no attractive options. In the end it was raining outside anyway, so went to the gym and did a treadmill session, as last resort. Only compensation was sky sports was playing highlights from yesterday's cricket where Brett Lee got a 5 for.

Thursday Jul 2, 2009 #

running 50:30 [3] 10.4 km (4:51 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

early morning after another late night. arond the canals and streets using the tourist map. felt a bit sluggish
o skills came in handy last night, and earned a free dinner, see the note below

Note

Went on a cannal trip in the evening with 50+ other conference attendees. The boat got back at 8 pm and as we stepped off a close fried, who will be called A to protect his identity pronounced that if I could find the Thai we had been on the last visit 2 years ago, he was paying. As we set off so did all the other conference delegates all going in the same direction as us. A looked back over his shoulder to see them all strung out, a bit like the rats behind the pied piper, and suddenly got very worried. He had meant he was paying for me, Mrs Max and a couple of others and now had visions of paying for 50+. We pulled into a side street, and fortunately they all walked past. Then it was back to teh navigation task at hand. It required remembering the location from 2 years ago, and then navigating there, or so A thought. Actually I had seen the place a couple days earlier on a wlk, so the only real test was picking the right street from map memory.
Dinner for what turned out to be 9 inflicted some serious damage on his company's expense account, but it was some of the best Thai I have had.

Wednesday Jul 1, 2009 #

running 43:30 [3] 9.0 km (4:50 / km)
shoes: asics discounts (orange)

an early run around the canals. shorter and slower than yesterday, partially as the after effects of a late night
