Trail Run 15:00 [1]

warmup

Orienteering 51:51 [3] 4.6 mi (11:16 / mi)

Night-O at Buena Vista. A fine run. Started out very cautious, wasn't even convinced I was headed the right direction off the start, but slowly pick up pace. #7 threw me, as I was sure I was in the right place, bailed to relocate and caught it reflected through the tree way off to the south. The next morning I kept thinking about it and started to think that it must have been in the wrong place, at the start of day two, I was informed that it was indeed in the wrong place. Fun just the same and the ~9300' elevation is kind of a killer.

Road Bike 1:20:00 [1] 19.4 mi (4:07 / mi)

Parked at the end and headed west along the Poudre trail. Wicked headwind heading west, flew on the way back cutting off 10 min from turn around point.

Trail Run 21:15 [4]

Running club. Descending ladder from 6min. Mile split was 5:53 on the first one, so a bit slow, but pace gradually increased on each one after. The 1 min. last one went to 400m, was 75 sec, so a good pace.

Orienteering 58:37 [3] 8.5 km (6:54 / km)

Peaceful Valley O. Map I've never run on before. It is a nice map with good topography detail and some rocky areas, but not too much. Ran well, it is in fact at a pretty good elevation at 7000', which I figured out before I looked at a topo map based on how I felt as I ran. Because it was an unseen map previously, took it a bit easy with the speed, the elevation helped with that too. Turned out to be a good idea as it was hot and the course was challenging enough. Handful of small bobbles in close to a few controls but not worth mentioning, but did have one error, 3-4, went too far east and ended up at 5, but quickly figured out the problem. On control retrieval made pretty much the same error even with knowing how I messed up (and ran it slower than in the race). Anyway, a fun day with quality orienteering.
