8 PM

Running 21:10 [3] 3.04 km (6:58 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Going to meet crumb after work.

Shins were a bit sore. Probably been running too much with the new shoes lately, should've realised to bring my Adidas here since it's not slippery..

Note
(rest day)

Work and then travelling. Not a proper rest day since this included sprinting through Heathrow as fast as I could. Wasn't fast enough, missed the connecting flight by a minute.
In Cork finally at 2am.

Note
(rest day)

Had planned to get a short run in today. Change of plans because feeling wrecked after busy day at work.

Monday Feb 20, 2017 #

6 PM

Running 45:00 [3] 5.6 km (8:02 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Super slippery again! Had some trouble staying upright, everything is just ice.

Feet hurt in the beginning. I think combination of them being tired from skating and trying to not fall. The pain disappeared and it was just muscle pain so nothing too bad.

Had the Tomtom with me and tried to keep my HR as low as possible. Couldn't go under 160 while running except for one bit where there wasn't ice on the road. I'm not sure if that can really have an effect?

Note
(rest day)

Savonlinna with Anna and Anni and then train back home. Didn't sleep great and home around 22, wrecked.

1 PM

Skating 2:00:00 [2] 12.0 km (10:00 / km)

Skating with Anna and Anni in Punkaharju. We rented skates and off we went! The long distance skates are funny, you get freestyle skiing boots and the blades attach to those! And you use ski poles as well.

Skated 12km in total! First 4km and then pancakes with jam and cream! And then a bit further. I think the distance is right but I'm not sure about the time, maybe a bit under 2hrs when you dont count the pancake break.

I wasn't convinced at the start, it was scary and my feet hurt. It got easier when we got along though and it was almost nice at some point! Weather was nice, maybe -2 and sunny!

Note
(rest day)

Work, dinner with Anna, gig and then train to Lahti. Home at around 23, busy day.

Running 10:05 [4] 0.83 km (12:09 / km)

Running 10:13 [4] 0.97 km (10:32 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Running 9:41 [4] 1.03 km (9:24 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Today was supposed to be snow running but not enough snow for that. So hill repeats it was!

We found a hill that wasn't too icy. 3 sets of 5 repeats. 30sec up, 1min 30sec down. Aim was to go harder towards the end and it looks like I managed to do that. Last one was pretty tough!

Didn't know how to do laps on the Tomtom watch so just recorded each of the sets separately. Been using the Tomtom now for a few times, not quite convinced the hr monitor is right.

Running 18:22 [3] 2.51 km (7:19 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Cool down and jogged home.
8 PM

Lihaskunto 6:00 [1]

Calves feeling a bit tight today

Tuesday Feb 14, 2017 #

6 PM

Running 45:04 [3] 5.87 km (7:41 / km)
shoes: Adidas Adipure Motion

Really slippery! Wanted to wear something other than my new shoes so went with my summer shoes, probably not a great choice. Had lots of trouble with ice but at least didn't fall at any point!

Old shoes were a good choice legwise though, legs felt okay!

Short stretches

Monday Feb 13, 2017 #

7 PM

Lihaskunto 37:00 [1]

5mins warming up, long stretches (2mins) and some strength stuff for calves.

Sunday Feb 12, 2017 #

3 PM

Running 19:47 [3] 3.06 km (6:28 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Was aiming for 30mins.

My legs, especially my shins, didn't seem to like the fact I tried to run both on Thursday and on Sunday with my new shoes. Shins started to hurt, walked a small bit and tried to do some stretches, but it didn't get much better so decided it wouldn't be a good idea to try to continue so just jogged home.

Next run on Tuesday and I'm going to take my old shoes to give my shins some rest. Old ones aren't great either though. Lidl has running shoes on Thursday so I'm going to buy a new pair! Will take some getting used to but hopefully then I have always at least two pairs of shoes I can run in regardless of the weather.

At least the knee didn't hurt today.
4 PM

Lihaskunto 14:00 [1]

Came in and 2 x 2mins walking on my heels and my toes. Walking on my heels hurt the shins really bad!!

Then some short stretches (30sec) for about 10mins.

Thursday Feb 9, 2017 #

Running 24:31 [3] 3.23 km (7:35 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Running 19:50 [4] 3.13 km (6:20 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

First Juoksuklubi! Everyone seemed nice.

We started with running 25mins towards Hollola and then back in 20mins. I was nervous I'd be the slowest one but I wasn't!
Trying out new shoes as well, they felt good! Ground was really icy in places and it was cold, around -16.

No knee pain! It was a bit stiff at some point after turning back and I thought it would start hurting but it passed.
7 PM

Running 11:00 [4] 1.2 km (9:10 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Next we moved inside and did some intervals. 6 x 100m, walking back to the start. Didn't have my watch for this.

Lihaskunto 20:00 [1]

Some streches.
8 PM

Running 10:00 [3] 1.4 km (7:09 / km)
shoes: New Balance FreshFoam Gobi

Jogged home since it was too cold to walk. Need to remember next time I might want to bring a jacket or something for a walk home!

Legs were tired. But no pain which is good.

Thursday Feb 2, 2017 #

Lihaskunto 15:00 [3]

Tried some strength stuff meant for knee pain. Would probably be good to do this at least couple times a week but I think I need to get an elastic band.

Wednesday Feb 1, 2017 #

6 PM

Running 13:46 [2] 2.06 km (6:41 / km)
shoes: Crivit 1

First time running since early November.
Headed to Laune to get my package from the parcel motel.

Running 14:20 [2] 1.82 km (7:53 / km)
shoes: Crivit 1

Got knee pain just before arriving there. Started to head back: hurting.
The pain went away when I focused more on how my feet land and shortened my steps. Had to go super slow though.

Google says knee pain low-ish on the side of the knee is ITBS
