Imaginary controls on Browns Reef. Getting harder ot fit this in in the morning as its not light enough to read a map until 6.40. As the sun was lighjting up the tree tops I had a surge of endorphins and congratualted myself on somehow always imagining I was at the control site when I expected to be there. Thereupon stuffed up two of the next three. The first error was because I foolishly picked a small rock face in an area with no other rock. The task of self delusion becomes very difficult in that situation. I incresed the level of difficulty by knowing I ran past said rock from the other direction on my technical run last week. Beyond even my pwers of self persuasion. I had to back track 30 metres. The second mistake was a result of overconfidence whilst running without a compass. Too low along a hill side of branching gullies, and hence counted one too far.
