The forest orienteering day of High-O. Demonstrated far too much faith in the map contours and came unstuck. Did three off-track routes. The first was short and went well. Took that as a sign. The second was diabolical. Tried a third time and almost gave up.

I carried water but it was unecessary. Every gully was flowing with water, much of it drinkable.

Finally got round to reviewing last years activity. Pretty clearly age is wearying me.
435k of running for the year, including orienteering.
1260k of walking... golf, mapping and bushwalking.
The running component is declining steeply. Running for training purposes only came to 280k, and has been in steady decline from 900k 4 years ago. 4 years ago it was 42% of my distance. Last year it was 16%. The orienteering running is declining more slowly.
Five periods lost to injury last year (87 days). Most of that was the left knee. Add the illness periods and 11 weeks was lost.
Will try and improve a little on last year, but without having more injuries.

Got out in the hope of finishing before the rain arrived. Didn't manage that, arriving back soaked. But the rain in the morning was warm so it wasn't unpleasant.
Side note. The intensity of 5 reflects the claims of my garmin watch. I fear this is a result of lingering covid issues. Ended up with some bed time after the run. Hope to chat with medical personnel next week about degrees of long covid.
