Ambitous. Was entered in ACT Teams Event at Glenburn Creek with my team of Jo (aka sister in law), Bob (aka father in law) and myself. Woke up sore and stiff from Googong and quads very weary. I figured everything would be a bit better once I warmed up although this was very hard to do coz it was bloody freezing and obviously there was no backing out due to the intense pressure from the in laws. I mean after all this was the first time Bob had asked me into one of his teams - I must be fit! The race format was 3 seperate legs like in a relay however everyone started in the 1 mass start. Anyway with the help of having the shortest 1st leg and a bit of a warm up I rose to the occasion. Very stiff and sore made it to the 1st and turned back up the hill to realise, thanks to my short 1st leg, I was basically in the lead. Jo caught me soon after and I tagged along behind her with Geoff Lawford until I had a longer split in pay back for my 1st. Pushed on well enough to come in 3rd behind the aforementioned and when Bob appeared a bit later the team had won. Phew.

Googong Dam Off Road Half. 5 hills out and 5 hills back. not small hills either. Everything was hard work today. The down hills were hard, the up hills were hard and so were the flats. I did work hard obviously however just never seemed to have a 'good patch'. The wind was blowing a gale also. My plan was to push the downs and conserve on the ups. Worked ok for the first 1/4 but then I think my downs slowed as quads got sore and concentration waned. My time was 2mins down on last year which I was dissapointed about but I do recall having a terrific run last year with no wind. Very sore quads by the end from the downhills and a good dose of the captain. Bazorak was back to his brilliant best and won the race by miles. well a mile anyway.
Out (approx. 11k): 51.59 (166/175 10s quicker than last year)
Back: 49.46 (165/171 2mins slower)

today could become a rest day. been nice steady rain since about 4am this morning so I skipped the bicycle commute for the bus. 8.21 bus never came. handy when its pelting rain.

warm up run round aranda ovals. never seen it so sodden. luckily lights came on about half way through my warm up which helped in avoiding the worst of the water.

8*DS Hills solo. Pretty cold and wet and no companions so good effort to get out. legs were a bit weary - looking fwd to tomorrows rest day. reasonable set although slow on the 2nd last. i reckon the 2nd last is always the hardest - you can pump yourself up for the last knowing its the end.

slow jog home back round aranda ovals. some old bunter stopped me to tell me the lights on with noone training was a waste of carbon gases. thanks buddy - i'm with you on the environment but i just wanted to get home. he was walking with an old style tranny tuned to some talk show and turned up to about 11 so his mental health was already in question.

cook blob did the chaser special with potter & hoggcommaA. solved all stace's wedding invite issues. couldnt solve hoggcommaA's lawyer issues but it was interesting to some of the colourful terms he used to describe his and the vendors' lawyers.
