Morning MTB ride through the Brock Tract, Glen Major and Walker Woods. Couple of hikers with dogs and a school group on the trails, but otherwise pretty empty for a Saturday.

Saw one group of three riders halfway through, probably more the serious types. Another rider in the middle of Walker Woods, he looked more the serious rider as well. Couple of riders at the start, one tooling it on a fat bike.

When I got back to the East Duffins headwaters parking lot there were two horse trailers parked there. Helped explain the fresh horse tracks in the Brock Tract, but managed to miss the actual horses on trail.

Day 2 of 2 of riding the Durham Forest.

Awesome ride for a afternoon. No other bikers at all being a Monday and only a few hikers the entire ride. It was just a bit warmer too and no ice fog this time. Still buff and gloves riding though (4 degrees).

First rode the Bowes / Baby Butter loop clockwise to warm up with some single-track. Then headed southwards to the bottom of the Durham Forest to check out the Lakeridge ski resort. Into Walker Woods next via the hydro towers and south again into Glen Major trying to find as much single-track as possible. Wanted to get to the Glen Major east lot and then back west to the Glen Major west lot. Was going to check out the Brock Track but it was 4pm and had no light so headed back to car via Concession 6 and Walker Woods.

That was about 2 hours and a half of riding. Brock Tract is on the to do list for sure the next time in the area riding.

Fairly good ride for a afternoon. It was colder than I originally thought it would be and lots of ice fog. You could see the ice stuck to all the trees and bushes on the drive up. Had spent over a hour cleaning up my MTB hardtail in prep for the ride.

Lots of riders out probably wondering why we are still riding these trails minus ice and snow. Even better though when warmed up a bit; this was wear a buff and gloves riding. First rode the 5k double-track oracle loop to check it out and back to the parking lot. Almost some light snow while riding the course loop. The decided to avoid the hikers who shouldn't have been on the single-track bike trail and went south to the hydro towers. The east and then north through maple gravy. Then further north though baby butter and back to the parking. That was about a hour and a half of riding.

ARKfest with Fiona in Burlington. Nice introduction for Fi with the easier junior course and weather was decent enough for early December. Terrain was a golf course with not to many crazy climbs and descents. (Strava showed a 64m elevation) One of the controls had an issue with some nearby barbed wire which if I was the course designer, would have avoided for younger orienteering racers.
Looks like we mis-punched one of the green 20 point controls, because I know we visited all of them! Full score was 695 for U14, we had 675.
