Orienteering race (WC Long) 45:00 [4]
shoes: Inov8 Xtalon 212 (3)

At Constable Creek. Started pretty conservatively, contoured right to the 1st and ran an OK route on the long one (3) although could have exited 2 to the left and saved since time. Ran good in the next section in the mining but got caught by matt o and hubman. Was feeling good so hoped to stick with hubman but went over on my ankle just before the run through. It felt bad, I couldn't put any weight on it and eventually had to hop over to the road and get a lift home.

Very disappointing end to a very disappointing week. I thought I was in reasonable shape and have no excuses, I just f#*%ed up.

Orienteering race (WC Middle) 46:00 [5]

At Coles Bay. Planned to take it conservatively to the first then just have a crack. I got the first good but came unstuck to the second. Lost a good 2mins there and got caught by keely. I knee the course was tough and hard and everyone would make mistakes so I kept pushing but made a few more small mistakes. Then I hit 17 before 16, and keely did the same despite us taking different approaches into the control. Turns out we'd both gone to the wrong control at 15 (we overran 15) so we were never where we thought we were running down to 16. Lost well over 3mins there, in addition to the time lost messing up 15, in addition to getting dsq for missing 15. Absolute Barry crocker. I can't remember ever punching a wrong control, especially not in a world cup, and haven't raced this badly since aus sprint champs at badga (2011?).

Very disappointed, the map and course were awesome and suited me down to the ground. It was difficult but I didn't think it was any more difficult to a lot of national series middle distance races I've done. No excuses - I just didn't perform when I needed to!
