Running long 1:15:41 [3] 15.28 km (4:57 / km) +214m 4:38 / km
shoes: Asics Gel-Nimbus (2015 NY Mara

Evening run with joshwa and macey. Pace was nice and steady and I found the going surprisingly easyish. Training does seem to be making positive changes. Had a strong headwind while running out to merewhether which meant a lovely tailwind coming home. A nice section along the harbour touching on 4min/km to finish. Felt good!

Running race (street-o) 46:30 [4] 10.08 km (4:37 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-Nimbus (2015 NY Mara

Well street-o if nothing else is a useful demonstration in the effects of oxygen deprivation. Started out super smooth flowing nicely in and out of controls but then as I started getting tired and my calves started giving up the flow suffered and I made 1 route choice error that probably cost me 2 points. I'm glad I didn't push the physical side any more because I was probably on the edge of injuring the left calf again. Hopefully I get a map file before friday so I can do some corridors over the weekend! :D

Orienteering (Corridor @ Pelaw Main) 1:12:55 [3] **** 10.16 km (7:11 / km)
shoes: Salomon s-lab

Went out to Pelaw Main this morning to do a corridor exercise I'd set myself with the aim of really sharpening up my nav particularly my compass. Found almost every spider web on that map, and enjoyed some particularly spiky shrubbery. I think I circumnavigated the nice part of the map. Quite a few new trails which local Motorbike riders have created with wanton disregard for anyone who may need to update the map. Missed the corridor a few times particularly on those areas where there's almost no features to correct your course. Had fun and took it easy, definitely identified some areas that need work!

Corridor at Pelaw Main2

Note

Left calf complaining about this morning's effort despite the slow pace. But it was a useful technical exercise. I think I'll restrict physical activity to map based exercises to maximise the orienteering benefit with not too much physical strain.
