Walking 34:30 [1] 2.82 km (12:14 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI
Paddling part of AR - 5.9 KM of paddling. I got the 3 minimum required controls. The neat one was the cemetery on Goat Island. I have never paddled with anyone but my wife and son-in-law, and we are self taught. I had no conditioning for this not having paddled since last October. I also realized that others had techniques that I had never developed, so I will watch some video to see if I cannot learn additional skills as well. All 5 of the controls would be within reach with conditioning and more technique. Of course the racers using the $3,000 streamlined kayaks will always be faster.
Foot portion of AR - 8.3 KM. I got 6 of the 8. The two I did not get would be available to anyone running and with reasonable NAV skills. The woods were fairly white here.
Bike part of AR - 9.3 KM. I got the minimum 3. There were 6 controls. I really struggled, the chain fell off twice. I did not enjoy the one rutted trail littered with loose rocks. But being honest with some practice, adjustments to the bike and a different mental attitude - there's no reason I could not get all 6. This was actually the easiest part of the meet. Special thanks to Carl who stopped after the chain fell off a 2nd time and offered some important advice - stay in the middle gears until you get it adjusted.
There was also an optional time trial on the bike that I did not do.
