First time on the bike this year. It looked so nice looking out the window, but it was a bit colder and a lot windier than I realized. Into the wind to Riverton, a wicked cross wind heading over to the other side of the river that made the front wheel dance a bit, and then with the wind on the way back.
Passed a vernal pond when I turned onto W River Rd and heard the wood frogs chattering away. First time I’ve heard them this year.

A pretty satisfying outing at Pleasant Valley, obliterating the recent years PR. Good running weather at the start, 50 deg and deeply overcast. Half an hour in a puff of warmer air and the sky lightened. I was beginning to regret the long sleeved wool shirt. But no worse as it went on. 66 and mostly cloudy at the end, with the sun out by the time I got home again.
Physically, the usual painful spots hurt, but didn't get any worse over the course of the run. Pretty nice progress.

Once around from Pleasant Valley. Pretty satisfied with my progress these days. I was certainly putting more effort in, but managed to knock four minutes off my time from Monday on the same loop. Thought I might have a chance to get under 80, and started to dig a little deeper with about 1.5 miles to go, but got some little messages from my legs and backed off. No reason to do something crazy. Forced nap when I got home.
I would have to credit two things with my resurgence: all the recent rowing, and wearing Hokas. I certainly haven't been running enough to generate any meaningful improvement.

Once around the loop from PV to Riverton. This used to be a standard run, but I haven't done it in several years, I think. Very satisfied with the result. I thought it might take 90, very gratified to come in under 85. Easier and a bit quicker on the way back, with more favorable wind and the very slight downhill effect. Physically held up pretty well. L hammy a bit sore, low back a bit sore, but nothing major or traumatic.
