I remember a few years ago when they were planting full grown trees down at the golf course that is about an 8 iron away from Inca Rd. They had a big machine that dug a big plug out, and then they popped the tree in with its plug that was exactly the same size, then off to the next one. It was a pretty remarkable site. I guess if things are windy enough one has to replace the trees pretty often.

My recollection was that those particular replacement trees were being installed after a very remarkable wind episode, even for Laramie.

That was the device, although quite a bit larger.

Such transplants aren't always successful. It may take a tree many years to reestablish itself, as you can imagine by examining a typical tree root system:
