PBricker:
This is the return of the Sprint Championships of Western Mass which were held at Cemetery Hill in December 2011. (The write-up and results are archived here.) But this time we are going bigger: the Sprint Championships of New England. And, tentatively, this will be the first event of the 2016 New England Challenge Series.

Championship competitors will have two options: blue/red and green/brown. Blue/red runners will first do a long “sprint” (really, more like a middle, about 3.8k); green/brown runners will first do a shorter sprint (about 2.5k). The start window for these sprints is 10:00 to 11:15. Then both groups will do a final sprint (about 2.8k) as a chase (i.e. with start times based on finish times in the first course). The first runners for the final sprint will start shortly after noon. The four winners – blue/red male and female, green/brown male and female – will be crowned the sprint champions of New England.

Warning: At Cemetery Hill on a Sunday morning there are areas where it is likely you will encounter dogs walking or running off leash. Although dogs are supposed to be under the control of their masters, it is possible that a dog will run up to you, or follow you for a bit. If this would be disturbing to you, you should skip this event.
