Note
(sick) (rest day)

Hmph, still sniveling, but also a swollen tonsil, and feeling washed out, so not going to push it

Oker
trying to get a grip on the contours at Oker - I think this might help my map-reading/visualisation skills ... (if I can get it right)

MDOC 'Summer' Evening Event, Tegg's Nose
still sniffling, but the cold is on its way out, and with no orienteering nearby this weekend, I had to get up (to) the Nose (it's a level C)

pretty clean run, apart from going around a fence to a stile, believing no fences were to be crossed, and going straight to 18, getting caught in some very nasty mid-green, when the paths would have been quicker

first half of the course was pretty good, but the rest ... a bit of foot race (15 thru 17 was from the bottom of the hill to the top)

3rd, well beaten by two MDOC M18s

7 PM

running 1:10 [4] 0.35 km (3:20 / km)
slept:9.5 (sick)

this doesn't really count, but given my health, it's more exercise than I had planned: a few short loops shadowing some youngsters, going out to check on controls, then ran a team micro-score (three legs, don't know exact time or distance, but I ran hard)

cold still around but fading

Note
slept:9.0 (sick) (rest day)

the cold hasn't go no worse after the exertions of the last three days, in fact, it's improved slightly (as measured by volume of phlegm), but it's definitely got to be a rest day ...

... apart from some gentle mapping

Oker
got to get this map sorted for an o-club activity/event, already planned the courses, so I know which bits I'll need to work on, contours are tricky in places, and there are some vague vegetation/wood boundaries

(I've marked this session as intensity one because there was a lot of hauling myself up and down the steep north slope and a brisk walk home)

Darley Bridge, Rowsley, Stanton Moor, Clough Wood
Stanton Moor is back in play ... but you have to get up there. Felt very weak on the way out up the valley, a combination of my cold and tiredness from the weekend, struggled up to the lovely little wood below Stanton (Sheepwalk Wood), and strangely improved when I got to the top, it was all downhill from there and Clough Wood was drier than I have ever seen it, must get back there soon

we ran past assembly and like little boys showed the other some of our controls (reckon M45 could've had longer, slightly trickier final loop)

we paused to remove three crossing points from the event
