XC Ski (Green Acres) 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Skate ski

I came to class with a bad attitude and hoping it was canceled but it wasn't.
First challenge was to ski up the big tubing hill to get to the 1k loop at top. I struggled up but it was okay.
Did a few loops with no poles, the V1 loops, V2 loops.
I felt so horrible at first, instructor commented on how tense I looked and pretty much just said "just focus on shifting your weight, don't worry about anything else" but I was NOT having fun and really did feel tense in my whole body.
When she demonstrated the V2 for the class, and it looked so wonderful, so fun, so glidey, and I thought... at some point that's what I can maybe do, and I had my big AHA "This is supposed to be fun!". I remember when I discovered that with Mountain Biking and changed how I rode.
So I made that my primary thought "I get to have FUN!! " and really, it immediately made a huge difference. Suddenly I was much more stable, much better glider, better at shifting weight, faster, better at turns.... everything started falling into place. Truth is, I'm still horrible, but I got the most important lesson taking place..... it's about the fun, first.
