LAS 2 Carlingford
Started out weol staying high to 1 only having to do a little climb at the end. could see Eoin and Danny ahead of me.
was just up the hill easy.
Saw the hill to my right and left and bisected them left of the knoll and straight into the control
was a bit indecisive about my route considering going high to the marsh on the left but went up the river and cut the corner instead. saw eoin coming over the hill back out of it when i was by the lake.
up and through the gap gaining on eoin, went left of the lake cause it looked more runable when i got up there, under the crag and into the control
a slog up the hill struggled to make myself climb but did it. punched just after eoin and flowed past him when he looked at his map.
saw ruth in the valley, decided to stay high and go by the lake to minimize the climb later. i think it worked but i looked in the re-entrant before it first. dropped 15 secs maybe
, tried to get away from eoin but that wasnt happening. It was really wet, saw i was a bit low at the half-way mark when i came under the crag but then ran up the re-entrant into it.
Danny was coming down the hill into 8 oddly, up through the gap in the mountain, great view of carlingford lough for a moment! and then down the steep hill to 9. I was a little nervous of my line but i saw it and then all was fine.
went for up and over to 10, eoin and danny followed so i got away from them went i went over the edge.
decided on right to 11 (obviously). Passed Declan McGrellis on the way who gave out to me for walking while i blew my nose!
Fell into the trap of dropping height out of 11 so I was a bit low but I copped it pretty fast, just had to climb at the end.
could be a tricky control. wanted to keep my height and then drop into it. counted off the big crags and then saw the big plateau with the cairn on it so i knew exactly where i was and straight into it.
never planned ahead for 14, executed my eventual route of staying high to avoid the crags and rocks badly by not going high enough and getting caught in the crags.
looked pretty easy but i wasnt hugely confident so i was a bit hesitant.
was visible from pretty much 15
was again visible but definately higher than 16 which it shouldnt have been so it was a case of maybe thats it... yeah it must be.... is it? yeah and then it was
was fine down and across on the compass
i was nervouse again for. just not happy my compass was right and then i saw a control to my left which i was like its not mine, it wasnt and then 19 came up in front of me
finish drifted a little at the start

Overall pretty happy, dropped very little time, felt good except on some of the steeper hills but i wasnt giving it my all so good
