Walking 3:30:00 [3]

Pere Marquette hike with Fran & Let's Hike, then Soulard Blues Band at Grafton Winery. Very hilly hike, fun group, great day.

Swimming 40:00 [3]

10*6 lengths. I intended only 8 sets, then first 2 sets felt bad - achy, sore back, no rhythm. Then rhythm came and "Why not 10 sets?"
Felt great, tired now.

Machines 30:00 [3]

10 double sets on Y machines. Skipped Prone Leg Curl due to sore back. Next time.

Cycling 4:00:00 [3]

First ride of year with Rec Cyclists of STL. Nice group - about 17. Rode to Lafayette Park to meet up. Then to Culver's of Collinsville and back via McKinley Bridge. Very strong SE wind. Tough ride back. 45 miles.

Apparently work is being done on IL levee just north of McKinley Bridge. So we found creative routes to and from Wilson Park.

Orienteering race 40:50 [4]

Much better run today. Short legs - mostly bearing, run, check-off features. Smooth, aggressive, and good map contact except #11. Legs VERY tired on uphills. Perhaps got lucky on notorious #10 (102) - 3 going into or out of it as I approached. Depression was further from broad spur, closer to lip of reentrant than I expected.

9 of 17 splits between 12th and 19th - better than usual, including several near end of course. 22/51 on Green. 6th (?) in M60. My error on #11 cost me about 8 places, 2 places in M60.

Wicked uphill from #10 so I sliced to left to go up on a diagonal and to drop 2 contours. At ridge, misread reentrant. The one below was "mine" but I thought I was still one left. Went right, hit bottom, very surprised no control. Pushed back - saw it flying high. "Everyone else" saw it from 200m uphill - UGH (-3). In hindsight, I 'should have known' based on curve in road far to left.

After 3 hard days, overall I feel VERY good (no climb please!). Lots of mf rose/briar scratches on both arms.
