FVO intervals - 6 (only did 2 before I injured my left calf on the start of the third!) x 4 minutes with 1 minute jog recovery. Covered ca 1300m.
Was swithering about missing the intervals because of a cold - wish I had now!

ESOC ESOA Individual Championships - Penicuik Estate
Blue course - 6.4k with 235m of climb and 15 controls.
Waking up to clear skies and fresh snow cover, I was torn over what to do and was very tempted to go for a run in the woods around Dunkeld. Eventually decided on Penicuik which was a good move and really enjoyable, especially since my left calf felt fine!

Was thinking more about my calf than the course and had a poor run!

Was at a conference in Perth all day, so went up to Birnam for a run afterwards.
Birnam, The Hermitage and Birnam Hill in the dark and snow - magical!
Calf still sore, especially on climbs; but still great to be out!

Trail running race 37:25 [4] 9.6 km (3:54 / km) +170m 3:35 / km
shoes: Inov8 Roclite

Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds Cross Country Race - Braid Hills
9.6k with 170m of climb. Took ca 37:15.
Great course - 2 x 3 mile laps, with a sustained gradual climb to start with, followed by a steep descent and then an undulating, and muddy, section to finish!
Ran a reasonably good race, but got frustrated at times when stuck behind other runners on a narrow path with gorse on either side! Had a good tussle with Will, with the lead changing places 2 or 3 times, before "seniority" won the day! Finished 33rd!

Have run this race once (or possibly twice!) before when a student at Stirling University in the late 70's!
Downside was that I pulled something in my left calf just before the finish, which is going to curtail running for a few days - at least!

Headtorch misbehaving, with 20w bulb not working and on subsequent inspection found it has welded itself to the torch innards - could be expensive!

TINTO Twin Night Event - Lanark Racecourse and Country Park
M50/Course 2 - 40 minutes/23 controls score - 38:36 and 20 controls.
Was scrappy at the start, but generally okay thereafter! Varied little area, well planned course and the famous TINTO soup, made for an enjoyable evening.
