Topping off my week of dodgy runs! I thought I was doing OK today but got a bit too sure of myself at times and let my concentration slip. 8, 12, 13 and 14 were all significant time losses. 8 I knew I would be 1 gully left (and was). 12 I could not read the map and took a 50/50 choice as to which side of the fall the gully would be. A N/S might have helped here. 13 I was tired and went low rather than over - dumb. 14 I ended up on the wrong set of features. In hindsight that was because I backtracked out of 13 due to some traffic and never recorrected that bad direction. Then piece da resistance - I was so cautious making my way down the steep rocky slope to 15 and 16 I gave away the win. Not that I deserved it Well Done Cathy!

We hadn't planned to come to this event but had to come and pick up Aoife so were here. A bonus run and win on a nice enough map but would have liked something else. Not a good day running for me but obviously everyone else had a worse time. One of my worst legs I got the fastest split (how did that happen?!), my other bad leg was due to choosing not to wallow in Clare's wake as she ran away from me on the track, so I chose to bash through green instead. It was worse green than I had been in previously and insanely slow but I managed to navigate through it fairly accurately. Lucky!

Met Nat for a run around Mt Painter. Nice to explore somewhere different with no swimming this morning. Beautiful around the west side of the hill! Feeling tired and sluggish, Nat super strong.

To work, taking it pretty cruise. Good day to be in the office with Mum and Eoin having to deal with blocked drain dramas/stinks/mess!

An even worse run than yesterday. Thought I was going OK but blew 7 by misreading control number. Ran past, around and back before rechecking my descriptions. From there ran off 90degrees the wrong way so more time lost... Really struggling for motivation for a bit after that but kept going as best I could.

Looking at splits after, it seems I need to do a warm up as I was getting better towards the end. Devastated to be many minutes behind, shows I need to do some faster training some how....

Also, not sure the point of/need for the fake fences. The courses would have been equally as good without, and it must have been a lot of work to plan, map and set up accurately. The school itself presented enough challenge without these. And they are difficult to read. Maybe if they are a necessity, they should just be mapped as per normal impassable. With my hip, tight corners make sprints really risky and these unnecessarily added to that.

VERY long drive home afterwards. 11 hours +. Remind me not to do this again.
