Cycling 1:25:00 [4] 34.0 km (2:30 / km)
shoes: Paramount (fixed)

Mi Square - Smith - WB - Taylor to Cheese Factory and S on Quaker Meeting House. Made it about 2km down QMH when I broke a spoke on the rear tire. Luckily, the wheel wasn't far enough out if true to keep me from riding home - for my weight, it's pretty remarkable I didn't taco it on the way home. Anyway, got back ok. Spoke should be pretty easy (for LBS) to fix.

Soccer 1:45:00 [4]

11v11 pickup at Thornell. I think people are realizing how lucky we've been with the weather this fall.

Orienteering race (Yellow) 1:05:00 [2]

Walked - or more technically plodded - the Short Yellow course at Dryer Road with Cole. After about 200m put Cole on my shoulders - so a slow hiking pace with a 50# weight the rest of the way, put a level 2 on effort for the upper body & back workout - my shoulders are sooore.

The trail system in Dryer has got to be pretty daunting for the beginners' courses, once you get into Fort Hill it's easier to figure out where you are. I grabbed one of the Green course maps and will run it some weekend this fall if I can fit it in.

Hiking on Seneca Trail from Boughton Hill down to the Apple Farm

Note

Spent some time this afternoon assembling and tuning the new bike. It's a 2004 Jamis Quest, 53cm with a triple ring. Originally purchased it to strip the components and put them on the paramount frame, but it's actually has a nice feel to it. I may end up keeping it intact, but I have to ride it a few times to decide.

Clipless pedals should arrive tomorrow. Also need a new saddle, tossed the EC1 and put the very old Selle Turbo on it for now. Will look around for another Fizik, they seem to work well.

This (or the paramount if I decide to cannabalize it) will be my ride specifically for the 2009 Highlander. 30T crank/26T cassette should be sufficient for Bopple.
