Note

Took tons of photos in Costa Rica, and I've gotten through maybe 2/3s of them so far. These are all from the first week, nearby to Carate, where our house had no walls and it was pretty much like living inside a zoo: one, two, three. The rest will have to wait until after Tiomila.

Ran an old sprint course down at Donner Lake, then ran it backwards.

Back to Burton Creek with Carol and Anna. Different course this time, now with more snow. Not really much more, just enough to keep the feet wet the whole time. I was trying to straight line everything for maximum orienteeringitude, and did ok for the most part. Got a little lost on 8-9-10, but the feature 9 is on doesn't exist anymore and the whole place is piles and piles of really thick deadfall, so that one doesn't count. Also I ran for the exact same time as Thursday.

Run through Prosser with Carol. Totally below the snow line down there, while at home everything is covered. Mountain weather is cray yo. Also found a night-o flag from the fall. And I'm totally counting it.

Note

Rest day. Got 8" of snow today.

Running an old course at Burton Creek. Super early summer means all the low ground veggies haven't even thought about growing yet, so the running was very nice and open - except for all the bonus deadfall sections of the map from a couple years ago. Got pushed around a bit by that on 8-9, totally missed 9, then messed up 10 because of it. Figured it out when I saw 4 though...

Snowing and windy out, but also sunny and pretty warm at the same time, so it was fairly nice out. The middle crossing in the valley wasn't totally flooded, which was good since its currently about 20' wide and waist deep. I had decided I was probably going to swim it anyway if the culvert pipes were gone, as tiomila toughness training, but I can't say I'm disappointed I got across dry.

Went hiking up something in Red Rocks.

Note

back home from Costa Rica. It was pretty awesome.
10 AM

run 54:58 [2] 4.85 mi (11:20 / mi) +191m 10:06 / mi

easy run with Carol around TD. not so much oxygen back here, but then again not so much humidity either, so I guess it balanced out.
5 PM

mtn bike 41:07 [3] 5.39 mi (7.9 mph) +134m

Woot summertime. Not really any mud or snow or water to be seen, we never really got enough snowpack to saturate the ground, so the trails are for the most part still all hard packed dirt. Randomly ran into Chris the wedding photographer on his road bike on the way back.

Ski with Carol's Dad up at ASC. Snow was warm and plastic fantastic and awesome. Lots of new fluff up there, the groomers were cutting through six foot drifts in a few places, its starting to look like actual winter.

hiking 30:00 [1] 2.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

We got another foot of snow last night, but they still can't get the big groomers over to TD so I didn't bother going. Easy snowshoe hike up on top with Carol and Meghan.
