WD

Running race 1:10 [4] 0.4 km (2:55 / km)

Varsity 400 hurdles. Unfortunately because oxf*rd had so many people isolating or simply too scared to show up they made it that only the winner of the seconds race counted for the scoring. So this was effectively pointless but hey ho.
The oxf*rd lad who won took SO long to get ready for the race and I was just standing there like come on you’re gonna win just get over yourself and get in the sodding blocks.
Once I’d established he would win comfortably (which took about 4.3 seconds) I just took it at a tempo pace and treated the barriers like steeple. So the time isn’t too bad all things considered

WU #2 with the steeplers

Running race 9:38 [5] 3.0 km (3:13 / km)
ahr:177 max:202 shoes: Brooks Mach 19

Varsity steeple - 9:38.80
Oxf*rd only mustered one guy who’d never done a steeple before to race us 4 which was pretty pathetic to be honest. Either way, we were keen for times and didn’t really care.
Water jump was on the outside so laps were longer - I was aiming for 80 secs per lap.
Let Jamie go and then found the pace with Rian tucked in behind. Unfortunately I messed up the mental maths for the pacing which I slacked too much in the middle of the race. In the grand scheme of things I don’t think this made a massive difference but we defo lost a few seconds.
Rian took the lead but was just slowing us down so I reclaimed it and actually started to pull away. Was feeling pretty spent in the last lap so Rian overtook me at the exact same place he did in our last race - 80m from the finish line.
Still, a 7 second PB which was pretty much a TT. Nailed all the water jumps and the barriers were mostly good. We’ll take that.

Running 12:16 intensity: (10:38 @2) + (1:38 @3) 1.97 km (6:14 / km)
ahr:138 max:148 shoes: Brooks Trace 1

WD with James. Nice for Cambridge to take the overall W but felt a bit hollow considering half of the oxf*rd team weren’t there and their uni and even some of their own athletes had done their very best to stop the match happening. Hehe
