British Long @ Kilnsey - 2nd
Set off well through the first 5 short controls with only a slight overshoot to #5. Opted for the round and high option on the long leg which worked pretty well- running with Nathan Lawson for quite a bit of it.
Slight miss to #7 and then going up the hill on the way to #8 got off line whilst taking a gel but got back on track at the top. Knew this was gonna be a tricky wan so properly set my bearing for the approach and was nailing it with Stan and grace before popping into the circle and the pit just wasn’t there.
Mega confused and spent at least 2.5 mins scrapping around to see pedley come and spike it in a place where I swear I went to?! Went over the ankle there.
Chased him along the slope, going over my ankle another 4 times which was extremely painful and frustrating as well- sos to anyone who had to hear my grunting and swearing.
Looking forward to my second gel at 55 mins but turned out I had dropped it somewhere- come on woohoo!!!
By this point ankle was shafted and my feet were killing me so was just clinging on for dear life. Actually led into #20 cos I’m a massive weapon but then alistair put in 30 secs on me down the big hill cos I was being an absolute granny- justified tho.
Still managed to drop a 49 300m for the run in- zoom.
Spent the next hour drinking coke in a portaloo but a good result nonetheless just a shame about that silly ol pit
