Swiss O week Day 2
It was hard to get motivated for this race knowing all the Swiss WOC boys were not racing. It was further than yesterday by 2km, and with 700m climb! And it was mostly open terrain that didn't really excite me that much. And the start was a few hundred vertical metres BELOW the finish.
I jogged down to the start, actually I had to go pretty hard cos I was running late. I was pretty hesitant on the steep descent to #1, and missed 2min by just slidding beneath the control and not seeing the feature (ditch). I got 2 ok but was already caught by Agseir Mjsund. I was following him into 4 when we got to the control circle and I worked out we had just passed the control (small gully) and went back, and think he kept going. I again missed 5 by a contour or two and had to drop back to it. Walking up the hill to 6 I just cracked it. My heart wasn't in it so I walked to 12 instead and sat there for a while enjoying the view, but not happy about having to climb 400m back to the finish. I walked up to the drinks stop and decided to have a crack at the long leg 14 (with 300m vertical climb!). Once I got going I didn't feel so bad and pushed pretty hard. I ran 17.40 and the best was 16.53. Then I ran to 18, 19, 20 and home.
So I was still out there for 91mins (stopped for 13). Not really saving my energy anyway. Probably shoudn't have gone to the start in the first place.
