Dog Walking 53:26 [2] 4.42 km (12:05 / km) +22m 11:48 / km
ahr:95 max:121 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

We all went to Mack Porter and then across into Jesse James. Bob walked Elray, so I could keep walking briskly, doing a lot of zigging and zagging, so Elray could stop and sniff and keep up with me. We did stop near the end of the walk for some "walk the doggy". Then we went for hot mochas.

When I got home, I found out they had canceled Grandma's Marathon, but they are not refunding fees.

Dog Walking 52:36 [1] 3.9 km (13:29 / km) +38m 12:52 / km
ahr:81 max:111 shoes: Skechers Walkers

Mack Porter over the bridge and around Jesse James, with a break for "walk the doggy". wearing my walkers, so I was slower. Beautiful day.

And a side note: Spring has sprung. This morning I picked off my first tick of the season, no doubt from yesterday's orienteering in the woods.

Dog Walking 38:55 [1] 3.13 km (12:26 / km) +27m 11:55 / km
ahr:78 max:109 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

Parked at Mack Porter and let Elray "walk the doggy". Then we mostly walked in Jesse James, around the disc golf course. It was busy, despite a brisk wind.

Orienteering 1:33:02 [4] 4.81 km (19:20 / km) +122m 17:10 / km
ahr:109 max:138 shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

Taped course at Shawnee Mission Park. I had a bit of trouble at 3, and switched the order of 5 and 6. I had printed the map on the back of another map and looked at the wrong map for the clue at 5. Trying to find a staircase! Pretty rough in places, and the vegetation was a lot different than the map. Also, some of the green flagging was a bit tough to see where the trees and bushes were leafing out. It was really fun, though, and I had a good time.

Dog Walking 24:34 [1] 2.1 km (11:42 / km) +22m 11:07 / km
ahr:97 max:116 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

Back to Mack Porter with Bob and Elray. We just walked from the south end to over the bridge and back, because Bob's hip was bothering him. A really nice day, and no one else out on the trails.

9 AM

Dog Walking 53:40 [2] 4.44 km (12:05 / km) +37m 11:36 / km
ahr:97 max:116 shoes: Skechers Walkers

Back to the south end of Mack Porter, but following a slightly different set of trails. Bob exercised his fine motor skills by throwing all the night crawlers on the path back onto the grass. Wet, and we didn't meet anyone on the path today.

Dog Walking 48:50 [1] 4.01 km (12:11 / km) +22m 11:51 / km
ahr:93 max:128 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

We (Bob, Elray, and I) went to Mack Porter and parked in the south parking lot. We walked Mack Porter, over the bridge, and went clockwise in Jesse James up the hill and cut across by the big shelter, then returned. Warmish, but overcast.

Wednesday Mar 25, 2020 #

Dog Walking 37:10 [1] 3.14 km (11:50 / km) +36m 11:12 / km
ahr:88 max:117 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

We parked in the north end of Mack Porter and took the bridge. Then we did all of the main trail in Jesse James counter-clockwise, so we climbed the steep hill. It seemed easier than a few weeks ago. My breathing must be better. Chilly and overcast, but almost devoid of people (and dogs).

Dog Walking 46:10 [2] 3.15 km (14:39 / km) +16m 14:18 / km
ahr:102 max:142 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

Bob, Elray & I went walking at Mack Porter. We looped Mack Porter and went over the bridge & back to Jesse James. Then back down the one-way road and an extra loop around the woods circuit. Cool, breezy, and overcast. The good news is that I think I can do grocery pickup tomorrow at Walmart. I tried Walmart, Target, Price Chopper, Hy Vee, and Sprouts. Walmart was the only one where I could even manage a list. It was not easy--and I got on really early this morning to get on tomorrow's schedule. At least there is some hope for those of us who don't hoard.

Orienteering 1:20:22 [3] 3.91 km (20:33 / km) +86m 18:31 / km
ahr:120 max:155 shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

Went to Rock Haven and did the intermediate course. Bob and Elray went and walked around, also. Very muddy and slippery--slid on some rocks. It was good to get out though, because I have been extremely frustrated trying to order groceries for pickup, and I needed a therapeutic moment.

ahr:108 max:139 spiked:10/10c shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

I took the intermediate course at Lexington Lake. No controls, only tapes. Still pretty muddy out there. I took quite a few trails and short-cutted through the woods. My navigation today was really good--why can't I do as well when it counts? I saw Mike Shifman coming in as I was going out, and saw Sandy and her boyfriend on a trail. Lots of fun, and a good antidote for cabin fever. Bob went with me, and walked Elray. She really liked all the different sniffs in Johnson County.

Dog Walking 39:34 [2] 2.83 km (13:59 / km) +33m 13:13 / km
ahr:102 max:136 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

Bob, Elray and I went to Mack Porter. Both gates were locked, so we parked at the substation and went under the fence. Really wet, with standing water all over, which Elray really wanted to jump into. We walked Mack Porter, then over the bridge to the main trail at Jesse James. It was pretty warm and we didn't want Elray to overheat, so we turned around there and walked back. Great to get out of the house and do something.

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
ahr:89 max:124 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

Only Jared, brother Derek, and I were there this morning. After the agility, firewalkers, using the straps, and balance with weights, I pulled the sled back and forth three sets, with trips up and down the ramp in between We also did some weights and balance with the cable machine. The last was three sets on the rower--100 meter rows, with rests in between.

We shall see, but probably my last trainer workout for a few weeks.

Tuesday Mar 17, 2020 #

Note

Breathe Deep (my yoga studio) and 9Round are both going to put their workouts online. Yeah! Something to look forward to on Thursday.

Nice weather today. I should have gone to Rockhaven or Lexington Lake, but had to go to the doctor instead, so he could inspect my bone graft from last August. So far, so good.
8 AM

Dog Walking 25:44 [1] 1.49 km (17:16 / km) +8m 16:49 / km
ahr:95 max:118 shoes: Skechers Walkers

Elray and I went to Mack Porter and walked the woods loop into the ball fields and back down the one-way road. Just ambled and I picked greens (first of the season) for Harvey.

9 AM

9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:109 max:135 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

I dogged it a bit, but it seemed like a good effort with my continuing congestion. This week's CHOW--a front kick, side kick, and round kick. I only managed 27. Just a bit slower than usual, but it felt really good to get out and do something. I continue to sleep without coughing. Wonderful.
3 PM

Dog Walking 1:16:34 [2] 6.33 km (12:06 / km) +48m 11:39 / km
ahr:98 max:116 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

Bob, Elray, and I went to Watkins Mill and walked the circuit. We only saw one runner. Cold and damp, so I bundled up, and got somewhat overheated about half-way through. Good to get out.

Sunday Mar 15, 2020 #

4 PM

Dog Walking 55:46 [2] 4.54 km (12:17 / km) +46m 11:41 / km
ahr:99 max:112 shoes: Skechers Walkers

Bob, Elray & I started at the south end of Mack Porter, walking around the ring to the bridge. Over the bridge and around the loop in Jesse James and then back. I had to keep up with Elray's exuberance and Bob's long legs. It felt really good to get out.

Saturday Mar 14, 2020 #

Note

I woke up, ate breakfast, had no energy, and took a nap. Normally, I can't sleep during the day. I finally figured out that I must be depressed, which seldom happens. But all we hear is corona virus, the weather is crappy, I'm getting over a bunch of chest congeston, and they postponed? the US champs. No wonder I'm depressed. Now I need to do attitude adjustment. It will happen.

Friday Mar 13, 2020 #

9 AM

9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:112 max:149 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

First time back at 9Round since 3/3. It seemed really hard today, but that is probably because of the time off, and I'm still pretty congested. It felt really good once I was finished.

Thursday Mar 12, 2020 #

4 PM

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]
ahr:78 max:120

Stretch & Strengthen in the new venue. I hadn't been to yoga for two weeks, and it was hard, but I managed to get through without coughing. Also, I did no coughing last night, and slept well, until Elray woke me up because of the thunderstorms.

Wednesday Mar 11, 2020 #

3 PM

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
ahr:100 max:126 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

At last. I went to see my trainer and did a good workout. Lots of balance, but I also did intervals on the rowing machine, and pushed the sled. A bit short of breath, but otherwise ok.

Tuesday Mar 10, 2020 #

Dog Walking 24:18 [2] 2.3 km (10:34 / km) +31m 9:54 / km
ahr:88 max:103 (sick) shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

I feel ok, but am still doing a lot of coughing, so I skipped 9Round and yoga, to avoid freaking people out with the cough in confined spaces. I knew I needed to get out and do some deeper breathing--it's the only thing that clears the fluids from my lungs, so I went to Jesse James and went counter-clockwise on the main trail. It felt good.

Monday Mar 9, 2020 #

Note

Feeling almost normal today. Some coughing, but it's not bad. I should have gone to kickboxing, but have some stomach distress (very unusual for me), probably from the sugar-free cough syrup.

Sunday Mar 8, 2020 #

Note

Managed to get better sleep last night. Still coughing, but better. I took it mostly pretty easy today.

I did the spreadsheet and money stuff for yesterday's meet.

Orienteering 1:02:45 [3] ** 3.62 km (17:20 / km) +149m 14:22 / km
ahr:112 max:147 spiked:7/8c slept:4.0 shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

PTOC meet at Fleming Park. I haven't been getting much sleep, and I still have the cough, so I wanted to take it easy. After most of registration, I went out on the short course, and did well. I only lost 1:40, and that was on 7. I went a bit far down the hill, and then had to climb back up. The hill climbs were difficult today. Hopefully, my lungs will be cleared up by the next meet.

Friday Mar 6, 2020 #

Note

Feeling somewhat better, but not sleeping well. I went out and updated part of my map for Easter, and cleaned up the weeds in my herb garden.

Thursday Mar 5, 2020 #

Note
(sick)

I had lots of trouble sleeping last night, although not as bad as Monday. So I am just working on getting well today. Still have a terrible cough, and this is probably not a good time to go out and about with a cough.

Note

Still a sickie.

Wednesday Mar 4, 2020 #

3 PM

Workout 1:00:00 [2]
ahr:87 max:116 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

Workout with my trainer. Mostly lower body today. We used cones for the agility drills, and I got to use a new machine that targets hamstrings. I finished up by pulling and pushing the sled x3.

Feeling much better. I slept pretty well last night. Still lots of congestion to get over.

Tuesday Mar 3, 2020 #

Note

Today is the first day for yoga at the new location. Because I am still coughing a lot, and didn't sleep much because of coughing all night, I thought everyone would appreciate my staying home.
9 AM

9Round 32:00 [3]
ahr:106 max:128 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

Easier than usual, and I was sluggish anyway, because of not getting much sleep last night. Too much coughing. I feel ok except for the cough. Also, sleeping in my usual position, on the stomach, made my back hurt, and it doesn't hurt in any other configuration.

Monday Mar 2, 2020 #

9 AM

9Round 32:00 [5]
ahr:120 max:144 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

CHOW for Round 2. Squat, curl, and press, with dumbbells. I did 56. Today's workout kept me going the whole time.

Article in today's Kansas City Star about how Kansas City could have been called Possum Trot.
3 PM

Dog Walking 1:04:58 [2] 6.18 km (10:31 / km) +50m 10:06 / km
ahr:105 max:142 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 270

Clockwise at Watkins Mill. Congested, so I mostly walked, with a few short slogs during the last two km. Nice day.

Sunday Mar 1, 2020 #

Note

I thought about doing something today, but after meeting other family for Linda's birthday party at Olive Garden, decided to take the day off. I need to work on my map for Easter.
